Lighting from back to front. So simple yet essential. I’ll definitely remember this as I practice my skills. 👍🏾

Thank you. Really informative. I was wondering if any ND filters were used. Loved the look. Thanks for putting all that together for us.

I tend to take advantage of HSS (high speed sync) as I've never loved the color cast with the ND's i have but both methods will work... thank you

@@jcphotomedia2329 Thank you, I didn't think of colour cast from an ND filter. Thanks again.

Love this video. Seminal I would have to say. Would love to see something similar showing positioning of light modifiers. And perhaps one for people with less equipment. For example all I have is a Profoto B10 and an A1. I have a medium sized umbrella and a small softbox. Don't have things like beauty dish or strip lights.

I'm always trying to work on more BTS to show where the lights were - in the middle of a shoot it's not always something i remember to do. A medium sized umbrella and softbox can go a LONG way in making great work.

Great video. JC - How are you determining flash power? Trial and error manually? TTL?

Help, please. . I watched this video and was quite stoked. I really like your portraits and admired how you managed to get them under not ideal photography lighting and locations. . I dug out my old speedlight, ready to shoot at much higher shutter speeds in order to focus on subject and exclude environment. . Doh, my Canon camera / speedlight set up won't let me shoot faster than 200. I have an aftermarket speedlight that will let me shoot faster but only half the frame gets exposed. . Do you have any advice on what sort of light to buy? Thank you :)

Consider the Canon Speedlite 600EX II-RT B&H # CA600EX2: bhpho.to/36VQ5I4 or the Godox VING V860IIN TTL Li-Ion Flash Kit for Nikon Cameras B&H # GOV860IINKNK: bhpho.to/3JNKnqd >Mark

the first question i have is which canon camera do you own - certain cameras are not capable of HSS. Or it may just be a setting in camera. If your camera is capable then the Westcott FJ80 is a great choice...

@@jcphotomedia2329 I have an old Canon 5d mark ii. . . I think I looked at the FJ80 mentioned, and it will partner with the older Canon; will do more research. Thanks :)
