Studying and learning the moeller technique helped me a lot. Now if i play faster beats/patterns i have this looser grip and ”swingy” motion which makes the playing more relaxed.

I was practicing the clapping exercise, forearms together, clapping hard and fast, 2 mins on, rest 10 secs then 2 more mins of grimacing and grunting fast clapping. The plan was to get thru 10 of these sets but I only got to 6 before they asked me to leave the Starbucks.

@@DrumBeatsOnline Going from concert percussion drumming to drum-set drumming required quite a transition and your videos have helped me a lot to get where I am now so it's the least I can do to thank you. Speaking of rudiments, I have a Grade-5 Snare Solo in three weeks so, wish me luck... (It's 116-bpm in 2/4 time, with many 16th-notes and 16th-note-triplets so it's fast...)

#2 is better known as muscle memory. Instead of a hard practice pad give a go at putting a Remo silent stroke head on one of you spare snare drums, has a closer feel to actual batter head but has the benefit of low volume.

dang that's such a great exercise, i'm always looking for new patterns to try out. patterns that switch in the middle are so important, when you're playing a set you're always switching up your patterns so practicing rudiments that switch are incredibly helpful. one of my favorites that i've been working on is with triplets: RLR LRL RLR LRL RLL RLL RLL RLL RRL RRL RRL RRL RRR LLL RRR LLL. i kinda stole it from adventure drummer but added the RRR LLL RRR LLL on at the end.

Could you do a video on pros/cons of using a double bass pedal over two bass drums and the other way around please? Loving the content!
@GageDrums
@GageDrums 4 жыл бұрын
Not much to compare.. The only real difference is the sound. The feel is pretty much the same with modern double pedals. Technically your sound will be different because double bass setup will allow for more resonating between a second stroke since double pedal is on the same drum. But in reality it doesn't make much of a difference. You play every other drum with 2 hands.. Why can't you do the same with the bass? I think a double kick setup is obsolete now. Double pedals are so smooth and feel almost exactly the same for each foot that a double kick is not necessary. Hope that helps!
