I've grown to use tokonole instead of gum trag. Feel like it makes the edges even nicer

What is the main difference(s) b/t leather paint vs leather dye? Do u choose one or the other based on the look u are going for or are there other factors to consider, like veg vs chrome tan, for example? Is it analogous to furniture paint vs wood stain?

I'm no Joe, but I am using a burnisher less and less these days. I much prefer using a piece of denim or linen. It works better and faster for me.

@@TheDude13 thanks. Like many, I started out using a burnishing stick, even have one to run on a drill press. my only issue is inadvertently crushing low weight leather edges. I will try the denim!

I've found I can't use gum trag. The fumes get to me. Burns my throat and makes my mouth numb. Doesn't go away for a long time. Even very little exposure. Nasty stuff.

Hi Joe. I'm relatively new to leather craft. I use the same technique. It works great for wallets. But i have aweful trouble with belts. The die rubs off on trousers! It dues not rub off on my hand no matter how hard i rub the edge of the belt. Hower after wearing the belt for a day there is die rub off on trousers😢. I've also tried putting bees wax on after the gun trag, to no avail. Any ideas?

Hi Tony, It sounds like you may need a little more time with the canvas and maybe another light coat of gum trag.

@@joemeling3216 not a Joe-level expert, but if you use a top coat of resolene (or my favorite neat-lac) there will be no run-off.

@@tughilldog You find neat-lac works better than Resolene with Pro Dye? It doesn't crackle on bends like belts? The finish is shiny like Resolene or less? thanks!
