@@G_Demolished Expecting others to be rational is rational. It is discrimination in it's lowest form: Projection of the self upon others. Which is quite rational since it clearly serves a purpose, i.e.: being able to understand people without having to know everything they are, do and want. INFP btw, fellow rational 😉

The progress never ends. The problem with that is we become even more disjointed with others because our frameworks are sturdy from a lifetime of fortifications and modifications and they haven’t even begun to build theirs. Then I become skeptical of most people because they’re led by fairweathered logics, to a hypocritical level. And at that point, there’s no trust in anyone but yourself and that gets pretty lonely no matter how many people you have in your life

I take emotions in consideration, and pridicts what people will do based on their habits instead. Understanding their true nature is more practical compared to expecting them to be rational make you negotiate easier, rational enough to not be hurt and understanding emotions to be healthy which can be futher analyzed. Also mindfulness helps with emotional well being along with staying rational when dealing with different situations.

I agree, I’m an intp and when making decisions I also consider how this will affect other people emotionally as a part of my rationality. In my eyes, the concept of being rational includes my personal ideas of ethics, reasonableness, quality, and reducing all harm to zero (or as close to it). that also includes not harming those I care about emotionally. I think it’s important that my framework for making decisions or carrying out decisions include emotional rationality as well. one of the only ways to do this is by observing, building a mental profile based in habits and patterns, and acting in response to that in the most rational way possible. it’s the only way that I can be a well rounded individual. I will say however, that emotional well being is one of the lower subsets of the “harm” category (with physical and mental being higher) but it’s still important nonetheless.

@@Yourfavoriteface yeah but that's the idea. In many matters, there is no real truth. Everything has Madden hidden causes or effects, and all construst and research are made by humans. Its made within societal parameters, thing like psychology could change at any point. Even something like math, aliens could have a equivalent to math that's very different but still works for them. But the point is that alot of people don't even try to think, or come up with ideas or conclusions. This is frustrating because the social constructs humanity made helped us in endless decisions and will continue to for infinity and beyond. Our world would be a shithole if noone tried to think about any rationality. Its because we had people that did, that we are what we are today. Thus, it can feel pointless dealing withh people that don't use any sort of Ti,Te or atleast Ni,Ne

I would also say being logical first about a situation then emotional. Of course if its losing a close loved one then I feel sad but if there is a problem I often find myself discussing solutions or reasons why this happens rather than comforting others. It can come off as cold or that I don't care as much. It's just processing situations differently.

@@MP-ut6eb Best is really going to be individual. Like I'm an introvert, but I'd actually prefer an extrovert partner because I'm actually fairly social, and would like someone who would get me out a little bit more. I couldn't deal with an extreme extrovert, but I think someone with that characteristic would be good for me personally. If I were an extreme introvert, I'd probably want a partner who was also an introvert and wouldn't be creating social situations because my personal battery couldn't take it. I like to watch Frank James, and he brought up that he thought the biggest MBTI divide was S vs. N. And after watching his reasoning for that, a lot of conflicts in my life popped into perspective and I agree with him completely on that. So for a fellow intuitive, especially an introverted intuitive, I'd suggest that looking for an intuitive partner will generally lead to less marital conflict. Though ISTPs are at least noted for seeing patterns in things and might be highly suitable , especially to an INTP. There's not going to be a hard and fast rule, though. Sometimes opposing strengths really works for a couple. I'd stay away from ESFPs as an INTP just because you have no compatible functions in your stacks so that's just going to be the hardest relationship to make work. You just have 0 objective points of compatibility and ability to understand each other.

@@MP-ut6eb There's no such thing as an INTP-T or INTP-A. It's just INTP which stands for Introverted, Intuitive, Thinking, and Perceiving. INTP's are one of the rarest personality types in the world as literally 7% of the world are INTP, it would be nearly impossible to find another INTP. Additionally, INTP's possess the potential to become famous scientists, even Albert Einstein is an INTP. And as an INTP myself, (Logician) I personally relate to why INTP's struggle with finding someone they can relate with or debate with. (It's no wonder my conversations are always awkward. This is due to the fact that non-INTP's don't think on the same level as we do. To give you an insite on how we think; INTP's possess the ability to think even when they're not aware of it. The majority of INTP's love solitude and they hate interacting with other people, they think emotions make them weak and they's always trying to be perfect.)

I relate to this so much! Especially number one is always shocking to me, like, wdym you do things for no reason?? Why would you do something if you don't have a reason for it/if it doesn't serve a certain purpose? I always have such high expectations for the world and then remember "Oh yeah, people are stupid." ("Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe." - Albert Einstein). 2. Authority and rules (and thus the system in general) should always be questioned. We can't just go around the world doing whatever other people/rules tell us to do without questioning whether these things are in alignment with what *we* want and/or should do. Always "have the courage to use your own reason" (- Immanuel Kant) and don't just mindlessly follow others - that's basically a one-way ticket into getting manipulated. 3. Yeah... this one is just... wow. I don't think I could even go about my life without an ideology/framework of how the world works. (infj here, though)

@@anubis-tp3js Being an INTP has its flaws you know. For instance, there are moments where I would want something but while I’m walking to that destination, I’d suddenly forget the main reason why I’m there and I’d turn back. Only to remember why I got there to begin with, this is a downside of consistently thinking to myself on a daily basis, NOT all INTP’s go through the same thing but I could relate to it when it was mentioned during the test. After analyzing my time management, I realized I’d spend atleast 3-5 hours of my leisure time thinking to myself. There are also moments where I’d ask myself too many questions and all of a sudden, I’d feel like ripping my head apart because my brain couldn’t handle too many information all at once, this is what most people call “analysis paralysis” which others won’t relate to. Some people out there usually fake being INTP’s because they aren’t sure whether they’re one or not or maybe just to gain attention.

I'm not familiar with this individual, so I won't judge, but I've seen what you're talking about too many times-- both with young/immature INTPs (especially males... sorry, guys) who haven't developed Fe or haven't had enough reality checks in life, and with INTJs who are actually using Fi reasons but think they're being logical. It's embarrassing and cringey to hear when you get older, partly because it reminds you of how you used to be. Yeah assuming people are like that because they’re all “stupid” is irrational itself. A lot of people are well aware of what they’re doing when their socially expressed logics and ideologies are fairweathered, or even hypocritical. Some of those people are actually pretty intelligent, taking advantage of changing their outer “frameworks” to manipulate certain reactions they want to get from others. The only “stupid” people are the people who fall for those types of people.

@@markusaurelius83 true, i'm not denying that thinkers exist, its more like intps (at least those that identify as intps online) very often think they are the only thinkers, and they are superior to anyone else in regards to logic. mbti is just about preferences and it is totally possible that a type with Ti as their inferior function being more logically/rational than someone with Ti as their dominant function. As an INTP, I especially felt the rules being broken and half ass book part. This one time in High School, we had this English teacher that told us to go to the library to issue ourselves some books for the class. Well. I had already gotten some books before hand and already had them on me, yet my teacher told me that if I didn’t go down to the Library to grab ANOTHER book, she’d call the dean on me 💀 Well, I told her over and over again that I had books and legit had to shove it in her face to make her process that I HAD A BOOK. After that, she then told me that since I already have a book, She told me to go to the library and listen to the speech the librarian had prepared for my class (for the ones that needed books), and she said if I didn’t, I would be sent to the deans office for disobedience 💀 I said to her “Look, sending me to the library to get books that I DONT NEED is completely pointless and a waste of my energy, and class is already draining enough. And after realising that I already have a book, you *STILL* want to send me there? For what reason? The people that went down there is already coming back up meaning I’ve missed the thing entirely. Say if I did go down there, I’m wasting my energy just walking to the library for something I ALREADY have. And you are telling me to go to the library for a speech that wasn’t even meant for me in the first place? You are just wasting my time and the librarian’s time because she’s gotta recite a whole speech for 1 person who wasn’t even meant to be there and I’m wasting my energy going there and back. And by the time I’d come back, I’d miss *YOUR* lesson as well, so I’m literally letting you do your job to teach me” And I said this in a logical, (mostly) well mannered way and she still got the dean on me 💀 After that, I just kept thinking she was stupid. And this happened the next year with my new English teacher. We had a class of 30+ and only 1 teacher and a lot of these guys fell behind in work and others were delinquents. Well, my friends sat behind me and they asked me for help, and realising the teacher was going around the class helping other people before my friends, I thought I’d be nice and set them on the right track to do the work. Well. As soon as I started helping them, the teachers says “Oi (my name) stop distracting the class okay? That’s disrespectful” and me just being me, I took that as an insult and having a shitty day, I said “Okay, look, you are a teacher in a class with 30 and more students. Like 80% of this class need your help, and you haven’t even made through all of them yet. My friends NEED help and they can’t get it from you since you are going to others, and there isn’t much time until the period ends. I’m just helping them because you’ve already told me what to do and they haven’t got any idea yet. I’m just trying to help them and technically I’m helping you as well, so what are talking about saying “I’m distracting the class” mate I’m just tryna help the people you haven’t gotten to yet and you probably wouldn’t have gotten to them in the first place knowing how long until class ends, so stop nagging on me” And I got sent to the dean….AGAIN. I didn’t see how she couldn’t process my logic at the time but I can see it now.

Wow I've been through almost the exact same experiences! You spoke the truth and people, especially authority figures, don't like it at all when we point out those things that seem incredibly obvious to us with air of incredulity at their lack of comprehension. Definitely worse as a young INTP, at least for mez because adults really feel their pride hurt when a child corrects them.

If you were logical, you would just say, “Yes ma’am.” No drama then. You haven’t figured out who the teacher in the class is yet. That’s kind of retarded when you think about it. You are on her time when you’re there, not yours. When you leave school, then you’re on your time. The world was here before you. You didn’t create yourself. You don’t comprehend the lives of others and the various agonies they endure in their life. You’re not at all smart - you’re a fool.

Well, if you want to be an INTP it's really not that hard. Just isolate yourself from the rest of the world. Always think on a daily basis, even when you wake up from sleep, keep thinking, never stop thinking. You'd need an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, you'd have to keep learning to the point where it feels as if you're about to break mentally. That's pretty much what INTP's do on a daily basis, I'm an INTP myself and most of the time, I'd often forget what I'm doing due to consistant thinking. Even Albert Einstein was an INTP before he died.

If you want to see the world the way an INTP does, I'll give you an insite on it. First, INTP's struggle with starting conversations with regular people, why? Because most INTP's assume everyone thinks on the same level as them, so when they attempt to strike a conversation with a regular person, people would often call them "deep" or "nerd." This often leads to major disappointments on their part, which is why they isolate themselves from the rest of the world. Even Sir Isaac Newton was an INTP before he died.

Good list. I can NOT help but (kneejerk reaction) assume people have reasons. 2 is an eternal battle for fitting in with work and society. Of course, mentioned framework, is subject to constant revision. But some truths "should just be assumed to be understood". At least in the moment, until we may or may not say something OR make the smarter choice of thinking it through in relation to who we are dealing with.

Rationality is a virtue. Most people aren’t virtuous, most people prefer leverage. The reasons INTP stay away from leverage is because they feel as if they already got it. They feel as if they understand the map and the game very intimately, so they’d rather operate within that framework.

Omg! The frustration I get about stupid rules and the stupid people that don’t question them. Every job I’ve worked at will have nonsensical rules that I won’t follow, and I cringe seeing coworkers mindlessly follow these rules to the letter! If it doesn’t make sense or affect the work I’m doing, I’m not following it, and I will find a more efficient way for myself to perform my job once I gather the system.

To be honest, pretty much the majority of INTP's out there possess the potential to become famous scientists. Guess what? Albert Einstien was an INTP before he died. Additionally, INTP's don't "think they know more than they really do," they just think everyone else possess the same intellect/thinking process as them. So when they try to start conversations with people, they're only left with disappointment when non-INTP's call them out for being "too deep," as a result, INTP's like myself usually isolate ourselves to our own thoughts or just dismiss others with a simple "never mind." Edit: INTP's are called perfectionists for a reason, and that's one of our flaws. We're always trying to be perfect, which is why we're always smarter. INTP's are extremely competitive when it comes to intelligence.

i used to think people base their arguments on rationality and truth. I always wondered why irrationality and confirmation bias is so accepted in society. I've since learned that humans seek to defend their opinions and beliefs, instead questioning and correcting them. Protecting one's feelings, self image, reputation and values is more important than truth to most people. People are less likely to speak the truth when its against their interest. Thats why people would rather lie than admit fault.

@@plots4 I agree, although I tend to find the beauty in everything by looking for connections that exist in nature and show up everywhere else. Like how math and functions connect to the way things react in nature, and if you consider every possible outcome, you can basically tell the way something moves "randomly" based on the way it is pushed. I've always been fascinated by things like that and I want to look further than what science already knows. Although I probably wouldn't be a well respected scientist because I never can seem to get anything done and in school I suck at doing homework, although I can ace tests pretty easily without studying. Maybe I should focus on becoming more balanced and better at increasing my productivity, because I know I am at least semi intelligent, and therefore if I increase productivity I could become a very successful person if I work hard. Writing this comment has really helped me sort out my thoughts, and sorry if I went too far off into a side tangent, I guess I do have the attention span of a gnat, anyways, cheers, have a great day, and a wonderful life

Real probing and questioning involves revising one's own worldview. INTP does not equal ego plus an assumption of being smarter than everyone else.... it means caring about things like truth or utility or what can be known even if one's self gets in the way.
