Manute Bol is the most inspirational athlete ever for me. Made decent money playing I the 80’s, but a pittance by today’s standards. Certainly not enough to retire after his playing days like an average t athlete of today could. He lived very humbly and gave just about all his money away to Sudanese charities. After his playing career, he willingly had a Celebrity Boxing match with Refrigerator Perry knowing he was going to get murdered in that fight (and he did), but he did it to raise money for his village. There are numerous athletes who give so much of themselves: Warrick Dunn, JJ Watt, Larry Fitzgerald, etc…. I applaud all of them. But Manute Bol is something more than special.

Manute Bol was recruited to play basketball for a small college in Connecticut, The University of Bridgeport where he led the team to national prominence at the Division 2 level.
