The instructional stuff is where it's at - there can never be enough of quality weightlifting information. My favorite 'hack' for the jerk is strict pressing at least 50% of goal C&J weight, jerks feel super nice then :)

I had the problem of hitting my front foot way sooner than my back foot on the jerks, so in my warm-ups, I usually try to consciously land my back foot first. As it gets heavier they start landing at the same time. Also, the Onix wrist wraps are gold! I bought a pair a few months ago after seeing you wearing them, and I used your code so your pets can eat.

Yeah I needed this pretty badly. Jerks have been lacking and this will definitely help. Also had the “snatch bug” last week but was able to rehab it and get back on track. Always love the content, thanks for posting!

Thanks for confirming it's ok to take a day off!!! Funnily, I did that last big Friday (which I do Saturday mornings) - 81% snatch felt maximal so packed that in - started warming up Clean and Jerk and 50% felt like shit - said eff this - eff the heavy back squats - did my accessory work and a few L-sit legless rope climbs and called it a day. Came in fresh Monday and spanked it - hit doubles up to 87% and singles at 90% for both lifts, then PR'd my 5 rep back squat - right back on track as per my program - the rest of the week went great. I totally agree, when the volume has you beat up...take a day to recharge and come back with a fresh perspective. Seems like a healthy way to keep your cool and manage training in damage control mode rather than freaking out with a pending comp.

Love the instructional videos 🔥 Any tips/cues on how to stay vertical? Have a bad habit of arching my back through the dip & jerk.
@horizonforevergold
@horizonforevergold 5 ай бұрын
Whenever I feel something off with the dip and drive I check: - mobility - core (planks/farmer's carries/hyperextensions) - push press and strict press -front squat -rowing/pullups If the strength and mobility side of things feel good, but there's inconsistency with submaximal weights - it's a technical issue (bracing, positions, timing bar oscillation, footwork etc.). Usually slowing things down will fix the balance in the dip and drive. I personally feel my strongest dip depth is similar to maximal vertical jump wind-up - if you bend lower on the jump, you should generally also dip lower on the jerk drive. If the issue is consistent regardless of load, then the problem most likely strength related and you will see immediate improvement on the jerk fixing where you feel unstable. Front squatting should feel very similar to dip-and-drive for the top portion of the squat. Hope you are able to fix it!

The "being okay with shitty lift days" is a difficult concept to comprehend in weightlifting. When I first started, I would get so down when I went backwards for a training session or two. Then I realized it's okay... sometimes I'm high, sometimes I'm even, and sometimes I'm down. Performance ebbs and flows.

love instrucional videos, they always give me a lot food for thought. currently on a squat program with stupid high volume and I got the ouchies in the lumbar spine so I did a bunch of waveloading to get the amount of reps and sets in but slightly undershooting the weight on half the sets to get through the work while not provoking the ouchies to become injury. now I don't have squats programed for a week, working from front rack is fine but anything that includes loading a bar on my traps feels uncomfortable. so my plan is going with some old people work like back extensions, rdls and some rehab lower back/core style work to get enough blood flow through the ouchy parts so they can heal up - is this a good plan or should I just lay in bed and recover? :D

Can you just briefly go over how to breathe and brace? I've seen people say that you want to expand your stomach out then brace but when I see people lift it doesn't look like they actually do that?
