When it comes to quick focusing methods in street photography, my best friend taught me a technique that involves using a Leica M3 camera with a 5cm/f2 lens. The optimal working distance for my street photography is between 7-15 ft, and to ensure that I'm ready to shoot at a moment's notice, I set the infinity lock at the 6 o'clock position when my subject is 7ft away. The key to this approach is speed - I estimate the distance to my subject, focus by feel, frame the shot by feel, and snap the picture in a split second. This method allows me to capture fleeting moments with speed and precision, making it an essential tool in my street photography arsenal.

One point about vintage manual lenses - if these are attached by means of a special adaptor to a dslr, then the infinity setting on the lens will no longer be accurate - as you will see that far away is out of focus. Infinity will actually be a little way short of the infinity marking on the lens ring and all of the other markings will likewise be a little bit out. But the lens should work absolutely fine for zone focusing - as there is always some margin to work within in terms of distance from subject.

I want more bokeh than my kit lens currently gives me. It would be for a podcast with two people in the frame. Since nobody will really be manning the camera, do you recommend using autofocus?
