@@andrewdannelly3350 Exactly what my dad taught us growing up when all we did was talk talk talk. He’d say, if you kids would be quiet you might learn something. My mom would say when we’d get mad at people etc at school bc we didn’t get we had hoped for… she’d say, you can catch more flies with honey than you can with vinegar. IOW be sweet and maybe you’ll get what you want. Get mad as vinegar you get nothing.

I use 300-400 watt LED grow lights. Not a 48" tube, these are box shaped. About 12" x8" x2" tall. These almost blind me if you look directly into the LEDs. Great success with seedlings in red solo cups, holes in bottom, sitting in a clear solo cup, with 2-3 marbles to hold up the red cup for water reservoir space. This water space gets filled with roots fairly quickly.

Great content, will adopt. When you bottom water in your “totes”, can you explain that process. Top water with just water then how much to to water with your Chilean in the tote? Do you just put in a 1/2” of depth and allow your starts to suck it up? I am assuming you probably do not flood the tote and leave your plants super wet all the time, but this is new for our family this season, working with more plants and really focusing on producing a quantity of food for our family ourselves. Appreciate you my brother🇺🇸

I'm curious what could go wrong by putting fertilizer in your seed starting mix. Could you explain that? I'm always learning!
@LickBranchFarms
@LickBranchFarms 4 ай бұрын
It’s really unnecessary because the seedling has everything it needs to get to the true leaf stage. When you use fertilizers in your seed starting mix you invite the growth of algae, weeds, mold, all of which will compete with your seedling for moisture, nutrients etc.

I just ran across your video and channel today. Thank you for the great info. I'm not a total newbie at gardening, but still very early on in it. I subscribed and liked this video and appreciate the info. I do have one question, however. If you addressed it in the video, I missed it, and even watched the section again and didn't catch it. What I'd like to ask is, once I up pot my seedlings and they are established, how often is the bottom feeding done? Is it only when it needs watered, or?
@LickBranchFarms
@LickBranchFarms 3 ай бұрын
Only when needs if the top layer looks a little dry, add water but only enough that will be absorbed in 10 minutes or so, don’t want to drown your plants.

Quick question. What would be non heavy feeders. I always hear people talk about heavy feeders but lets be honest that is most veggies. I'm thinking salads, radish things like that are perhaps on the low end. I think its easier to say what isn't a heavy feeder than what is. I've gardened forever,well since I could get in the dirt with my parents and we never fed anything but we always had a big compost pile and then made liquid manure (so yes feeding in that sense). My dad won awards at fairs for veggies and he always just made liquid manure feed. Sorry that was long winded and off subject.

Thank you for a great video. I’ve up-potted my tomatoes and was wondering how often to use the nitrogen feeding? Right now I use AgroThrive once a week and plain water in between. The Hoss Chilean Nitrate on Amazon was $45 for 10lb and I purchased the Power Grow 15.5-0-0 calcium nitrate $16 for 5 lb which is plenty for me and not OMRI. I noticed the Hoss is a sodium nitrate. Is it ok to use the Power Grow with same results as Hoss? Will the nitrogen feeding work with up-potted pepper plants? Thank you and I’m subscribing to your excellent channel.

Then the 5 gallon water with 1 1/2 green scoop fertilizer, - are you watering from the top? Or bottom? If bottom then a few wholes on bottom? Sorry I’m a brand new starter for growing plants this spring. Thank you for sharing 🙏🏼

Just water till they get their first true leaves,once you up pot then add the 3-4-4 to your peat, shouldn’t take maybe a week to get over the shock, but bottom water from there on out, tomatoes don’t like to have their leaves wet. Hope this helps!
