That crossing of the shoulders/hip movement is so crucial, that's what really help me find that sweet spot like a swing dancing motion.

Nice tips Chad. I just recently learnt pivot fakies after struggling for months... I found the one thing that really helped was re-learning BS axle stall to fakie first. Seems like there are 2 main ways to come in from BS axle stall to fakie; 1) sliding in by pointing both you toes down or 2) pivoting out and holding the manual. The sliding method is easier but the pivoting out method is much more similar motion to a pivot to fakie. Re-learning using the pivoting out method made me really focus on the locking heel/releasing toe movement that you mention and also learning how to twist my upper body (that twist/untwist is also critical). Once you have really got that down then the pivot to fakie is the same motion but just keeping your front truck up. A few other tips would be to come straight up the ramp and leave the pivot to the last moment. Also keep your weight inside the ramp as if you get too far on top it feels difficult to pivot out. Hope these additional tips help someone as this trick was a real struggle!

Hey Chad. Thanks for the tips. Yes, these are about the hardest tricks to do on vert in my opinion. I've struggled with them for a long while. I was especially happy to hear your tip regarding front side revert. I've seen you do them in many videos and wished I could do those. But I'll give them a try now and see what happens. Thanks allot man.

Great video! Such a great explanation. Heel lock, toe go back in. Manny it out, the bigger the transition, the less you have to hold the manual.

Hey Chad thanks for making these tutorial videos they're super helpful and pushing me beyond my comfort zone as i have no one to skate with. I'm a returning skater coming back after 10 years at 36 from badly breaking my left humerus skating bowl. I also tore my meniscus and fractured my left tibia in two places from a motorcycle accident in 2015 which limits my abilities these days. When I was young I used to skate tech/street on 7.5" boards with 129 indys and 50mm wheels. Now I'm trying to get into transition on a bigger board with looser trucks (8.25, 144s and 54mm) as they've just built a 5 foot bowl in town with a 7' extension. I've got a few of my old tricks back, bs 50, bs/fs 5 0, disasters, nose pick disasters fs and bs. I've liked and subbed, keep it up and much love all the way from Western Australia 🇦🇺

Been battling these for ages! The bit that gets me is the feeling of the wheel rolling back over the coping, always seems to stick very slightly putting me off. I can manual to fakie hitting back wheels on coping but as soon as the wheel goes over it just feels totally different

Yo Chad, love your videos. I was looking for some footage of yours where you was talking about mastering all the pivots, FS/BS and switch. You was saying if you do this you can easily do any other trick. Is this true?

I slammed a couple years ago trying to learn this trick on a steep bank ramp. I was coming back in with my weight on my toes and just didn't get the board turned far enough back so my body wanted to come back correctly but my board was angled and I slipped out. Smashed my chin on the concrete, broke a finger, and got a concussion.

I'm the switch pivot guy he's talking about lol, I plan to learn regular pivot fakie on something bigger then a 2 foot quarter this summer
@Rollinwithowen2 жыл бұрын
One thing I've noticed trying this again is that there's actually a lot more weight required on your front foot to stop you jumping off Very counterintuitive

I have had feeble to fakie on lock for years, but for some reason I can not pivot to fakie without doing a little pop, like a blunt to fakie. Need to figure out how to nudge it in like this.

I think the switch pivot is easier because you sort of naturally are looking back towards where you are going. I can do pivot to fakie, but switch pivot is so much easier it's not even funny. The thing that helped me was rolling up a quarter, and then holding a manual as I rolled back down to the flat. Because that's the feeling you need to clear the front truck and not hang up. As always, thanks for the video, always like seeing what you have to say!

switch pivot is insanely hard for me, i don't understand how you pinch a switch 5-0 with your heel, feels so weird. but pivot fakie is feels just like a rock fakie for me.

I was trying to learn feeble to fakie yeaterday, should I be trying to learn these first?? Seems like a very similar trick to coming back in. Thanks for the tips!!!
@ChadCaruso2 жыл бұрын
It’s different for everyone but to me feeble fakies we’re easier to learn
@HisBeverness2 жыл бұрын
One hack that really helped me learn feeble to fakie was to learn all the way decked out rock fakies first: that really helped build confidence holding long fakie manuals.
@mtgguiltfeeder41112 жыл бұрын
@@HisBeverness Do you keep your shoulders straight similar to his advice here? I think my shoulders are turning in and I’m leaning on my toes to much. I only hung up my front trucks twice on maybe 10 tries, i was just coming back in off balance and shooting out the rest of the time. Good call on getting some easier -to fakie tricks first though. I’m being a bit ambitious with the feeble for sure.
@HisBeverness2 жыл бұрын
@@mtgguiltfeeder4111 I think I rotate my shoulders a bit which is why I probably still haven't learned pivot fakies! But you can get away with it a bit on feeble fakies. Another hack is to start with a rock fakie, then do a rock fakie twisted 10 degrees, then 20 degrees, etc. until you can rotate all the way to a feeble. The scariest part for me was when the back wheel finally starts to roll over the coping - then you really have to just commit using the toe pressure method Chad talks about.

These help, but skating around friends and people who are trying to get better make it so much easier. It’s a vibe that you can’t describe EDIT: you can describe it 100%, but it just sounds better the way I worded it 😉
