How do you use custom fields in Trello?

I have set up a custom field to input phone numbers so they are handy when I get 5 minutes to squeeze a phone call avoid fumbling for the number. This is for phone numbers I don’t want to add to my contacts of course. I like how the phone number ends up neatly displayed on the face of the card.

That's interesting. I'm not sure how deeply I want to go into Trello because I am using it just to manage my project flow and to brainstorm tasks that I manage in Todoist, but your videos are enormously helpful in showing me the greater potential of Trello.

Wow nice powerups, can we categorize the field? for example a task for sponsors and speakers, the 2 task has different fields.

Thanks for the tips. Do you know if there is a way to show different sets of custom fields based on a card's label for example. I don't like the way it works now that every single card in the board get the same set of fields.

Unfortunately, I don't believe there is a workaround for this. But perhaps it will be treated more like checklists in the future.

Would be nice to be able to add a currency to a number custom field or have the option to toggle time display in the date field or customize the side/width of the field 🤓

we need video on the search in trello, how I can search all my due & over due tasks simultaneously across boards . In filter cards (search cards on the same board) we are putting "or" operator among labels but when we combine with dues it puts "and" operator . where to put "-" operator to exclude criteria .

I use the Custom Fields in Trello and the dropdown menu, but I seem to have ran out of line options so I guess there is a limit? Is there a way to add more rather than add another field with more selectable fields?

Clarifying question... So on a BOARD if you set up Custom Fields every single CARD on that BOARD has the exact same Custom Fields? Or can you have different Custom Fields on different CARDS on the same BOARD or maybe Custom Fields on some CARDS on a BOARD but not on other CARDS on the same BOARD?

Great question. Custom Fields will be applied to the entire board. So every card on that board will display the custom fields you create.

I think that Customs Fields are all the same through all the cards on all the boards within a workspace. Unfortunately, I did not find any way to customize where each Custom Field has to be shown or not. Am I wrong ?

@@Simpletivity there! I have my answer form last year... Well.. Maybe things changed / IMPROVED since then? This way I cannot use Trello! I have different demands for different cards. This I find seriously unacceptable.. I NEED to solve this Problem. Do you have any idea how to get away with this?

Yes you can. Select the Custom Field button within a card or in the Power-Up settings menu.Then select the field you wish to remove. You will then see a Delete Field link.

I have just answered my own question! Copy a card from another board with the custom fields you want, and then all your cards have these custom fields.

Unfortunately Custom Fields in trello has a very small and basic usage. Back again to description field with Markers like ///////////////Describe your problem below ///////////////Add page name below ...... etc. I can't believe that only me have this problem with normal/full size custom fields in trello

This is how custom fields work within Trello. They will appear on every new or existing card on the board where you've added the custom field.
