Tony Jeffries shares 3 ways how you can end fights in seconds with 1 move. I am teaching you real self-defense lessons here that you can use in case you need it. I do not recommend fighting someone and I highly recommend to try to de-escalate the situation first and leave unharmed.

Been getting back into boxing/kickboxing after a little while I feel my skills have improved through watching loads of videos etc but I'm finding it hard to set up my strikes while sparring as opposed to being able to just go off on a heavy bag. I feel I need to just spar a bit longer as I do feel abit rusty and to get more comfortable so I can see my shot selection faster. Any other tips I'd really appreciate.

#1 Fight Rule - The moment an agitated individual is within hands reach, that's your queue to throw the first punch. Coach always said... "If you get sucker punched, it's because you're a sucker... protect yourself at all times". A person within hands reach has already placed you in imminent danger of bodily harm. #2 Search your State Self Defense Laws - A couple of states are under "Duty to retreat" in other words, no matter who starts the fight, you will be held accountable and lastly.... #3 If you use self defense and an officer questions you, "What happened here?" NEVER say, we were talking and then.... 100% guaranteed the officer will write down, "both suspect got into an argument", no matter how the fight starts, tell the officer, "I didn't talk or look in his direction, he just unprovoked decided to attack me".

I just had a fight with him today and i had him pinned to the ground and said man i don't wanna hurt you lets not fight but as soon as i let him up he started throwing punches again. i know i'm stronger than him and so did everyone who was watching the fight but something in my brain was just not letting me hurt him, and to be honest i want to get rid of that feeling and just become heartless after seeing what happens when you don't wanna hurt someone.

@@shaadhosain Stay strong. Believe in your strength; your strength to be the one who doesn't hurt the other person, strength in knowing you are the better person, strength in morality and not being a racist fool. I do not envy those who have to deal with bigots. I am sorry for the fact you have to. I am a white male over the age of 35. I don't have to deal with this kind of stuff being aimed at me. I do however, stand in front of those who do verbal and physical abuse towards other people who they believe are lower than them. It sickens me. We are human, we all deserve love and kindness. I have worked my hands in orthodox boxing and several years of other combat sports. Never have I enjoyed or wanted to be in a street fight, but I will lose an eye or be damaged in a street fight defending those who have been targeted. Especially, if they have not trained to defend themselves physically. I hope these words encourage and help you with the painful process of having to deal with fools/bigots. I pray you find peace and don't have to worry about this person giving you the worst of times. If you must put hands on this person, do so in a way that shows your strength without damage if possible. If you must, defend yourself to the very best of your abilities. There is no shame in being the one standing over your opponent, especially, if they are in the morally wrong.

I was an amateur boxer and sparring partner with professionals for six years when I was younger and stupider. Just a related thought here: if you avoid places where young men have been drinking alcohol, your chances of having to physically defend yourself will be reduced by about 99%. I’ve managed to survive for 66 years on this planet without ever having been attacked on the street. Steering clear of potentially violent situations is the best way to stay safe. Are random attacks possible? Do they happen? Yes, of course. Tony gives excellent advice here, provided you have experience delivering hard punches. If not, or if you’re not physically capable, I think my comments above are important to consider. Avoid conflict and dangerous locations. Stay safe and enjoy life. I’ve seen the damage punches can cause and had good friends suffer brain damage from the ring. May you never have to defend yourself.

As someone that has been in the receiving end of a punch in the solar plexus many years ago(by a bully) I can confirm that it’ll finish any fight. If the pain doesn’t get them, the total loss of breath control will and if that still isn’t enough very soon they’ll get blurry vision and soon after a whole lot of symptoms because of the pain and oxygen deprivation because of the poor breathing and those symptoms won’t last for a short time. They’ll be suffering the symptoms for hours or more. The thing about that punch is that you need to be relatively accurate. Too high up and you’ll hit the ribs and risk hurting your hands and too low and you’ll hit the belly instead which isn’t as effective.

Excellent tips there Tony. The legend Geoff Thompson said “ Anybody who gets into a fight for any other reason except their own survival has to really question their sanity”. I agree with that totally and I totally agree with you too. I’d rather throw that punch if de escalation and all else has failed than end up in hospital or worse. Sometimes and this has happened to me theirs no turning someone who has the intention of dancing on your head and it’s all you can do to cover yourself never mind get a punch in. Also anybody who has never been in a real street fight under estimates the sheer fear and adrenaline coursing through your body. Every thing goes out the window unless you’ve drilled those moves over and over again. It’s never like the movies fighting is a pigs ear it’s ugly and brutal and total and utter mayhem just to survive. Take care mate.

Thing is, there are no muscles covering the solar plexus so even a big muscled up guy is vulnerable and there's no conditioning they can prepare for being hit there. The slap to head/ear is also good. I actually punch it out almost like a palm strike to the side of the head and at the last minute whip it inwards at the wrist. If cup your palm as your striking and it'll knock them senseless especially if you hit the ear. If I'm up close especially in a clinch I prefer uppercuts and elbows to the chin. The other guy won't see them coming especially if you're pulling their head down with the other hand.

Love what you said.. trying to put someone out of action without permanent damage is what I'm focusing on for my new self defense courses ,(I have 34 yrs experience in fighting and various martial arts).. though my focus is on neck/jaw punches/strikes and rear naked choke. You CAN throw the first punch by law, if you believe an immenent threat of violence against you whoch you didn't provoke, but your response has to be appropriate (ie don't kick someone on the ground). Definitely definitely don't get hit first and think you'll react. Being struck could damage you, knock you on the ground and at least it will disorient you allowing them to dominate the fight. Be nice, de-escalate, but strike first (or lead their strike so you can avoid being hit first). PS. I've head butted someone as self defense and didn't work, just annoyed them and they hit me with a stool, eh eh

Thank you for this video, Tony. I've trained in martial arts as well as boxing, but I've never headbutted anyone. I like the straight punch to the solar plexus and the open-handed strike to the face / head / ear, but I wouldn't feel confident enough for a headbutt. The eyes, nose and throat have always been what I consider targets, and the open-handed strike (palm heal) to the nose will stop someone in their tracks. And when talking about a street encounter where you are in danger of serious injury or worse, striking the throat should get their attention as well.

Hi Tony, love your videos , I’m a criminal defence solicitor ( and sometime Muay Thai practitioner ) from north east. Just a comment not a criticism , always very difficult to justify a head butt in self defence, use of head is akin to use of weapon , however if you can convince the court it was the only reasonable thing you could do in fearing for your safety then ok. Also you can hit first in self defence. A pre emptive strike if you fear for your immediate safety is allowed but the degree of force used has to be proportionate. If someone is coming at you with violent intent you can hit first in self defence as long as you desist as soon as they retreat. Cheers Mate. w

Our instructor told us that 1. If you can avoid the fight in the first place, do it. Sometimes the guy you wanna fight ain't worth the trouble 2. If you can't finish it quickly. Either try to knock the guy out cold OR if you can try to grapple and make them submit. Usually the later approach can get you a lesser legal problem. I really would like to have time to study a dedicated grappling discipline appropriate for my age.

You are absolutely correct and it's solid advice! I can tell you that solar plex hit is pure hell when it happens to you. And I slapped a person 40 years ago, just like you demonstrated - I learned later in court that it gave him two black eyes, busted his ear drum and put air bubbles in the fluid sack of his ear canal - the guy couldn't stand up after that and the fight was over - fortunately, he also lost in court. When you compress the air in someone's ear like that it's just like popping a balloons inside of your skull - be careful with that one because if you pop the blood brain barrier that person will die.

Amazing video! And than you for telling these kids that the best thing to do is walk away...you don't have to prove anything to anyone. One thing no one ever tells you about fights is that yes, you can get killed easily by getting kicked in the head etc...but you can also kill someone easily in a moment of rage or you can get sued by them and get jail time or fines. The last time I fought I was 21 yrs old at a club, I beat the guy until his eyes rolled back and he was unconscious. It started as self defense and then in a moment of rage I went well above self defense. I will never forget his facial expression when his eyes rolled and I remember the feeling in my gut...i thought i had killed the guy over a stupid argument ata club. He was taken to the hospital and he ended up pressing charges on me. I spent years in and out of court hearings, I now have a record, I didn't do jail time but I did have to pay the guy. That stupid decision cost me years of stress and money. My advice....walk away if you can.

I love boxing still but I'm grateful I train in jiu-jitsu as well.. it's a little more difficult in jiu-jitsu when there's a few friends backing him up.. boxing is solid for that.. good to know both arts.. The thing I do love about Jiu Jitsu though is when the opponent grabs you and you know a few moves in a split second you could break his arm... You give him the decision if it gets broken or not... Either he calms down or he continues aggression and he has a broken arm.. We have a saying... Tap or snap... Or tap out or pass out.. and in the court of law he's the one that grabbed me... one thing i like, having a little wing chun experience, is to keep my blocking hand out, and use that forearm to intercept/strike from the inside of an incoming strike. with my palm facing me, hand in a fist, i can then snap my hips to bring that blocking arm into the opponents face, knuckles first, in a downward strike. faster than they can swing their other arm or recover, opens them up for the same disabling blows mentioned here. not so effective though on someone in a tight boxing stance. will definitely check out more of this channel, been teaching my son the basics of boxing, both western and chinese.

Another great vid, cheers. I have a lot of fighting experience myself, in particular Muay Thai (kick boxing). For me its the lower shin to the balls. If you practice that kick and become good at it that's the fight right there. Going the knuckle in a downward motion to the sternum is also a show stopper but its a bit riskier. Real fights are chaotic and scrappy, I think keeping your head away from the mess is smarter.

I always end the fight by not starting one. But in any given situation I just do a quick finger jab to the eyes and scoop their eyes out. That pretty much ends the fight in seconds when their eyeball is dangling down on their cheek. I just simply walk away leaving them screaming in pain and misery. So my warning is this be careful who you pick a fight with because it might just be me. "I can take the world from you and still leave you breathing". Your eyesight is the most important thing you should cherish and protect because once it is gone it's gone forever and being blind and living in darkness will be your life. So again be careful who you are fighting .

Keep your hands sprayed out in front of you, classic wax-on wax-off technique works best in the haymaker situation. Keeping your hands up in front of you with open palms gives you the ability to slap/grab/parry punches (or kicks) that may hit you. Practice blocking with your forearm, this is practical in any situation as your arms are you main defence against an unarmed attacker
@antimateriel

Superb content ? Ok the video is well made, but very misleading if we are talking about real life scenarios. My best advice is, learn how to throw powerful straight punches. Learn how to generate massive amounts of kinetic energy. If you are in a street fight, you hit first. Aim for the jaw. The opponent will drop like being hit by a 50BMG bullet. If your opponent is way bigger and more muscular, Its always a good idea to have knuckle dusters in your pockets. If you hit someone with knuckle dusters, make sure you aim for the lower jaw only. If you hit somebody in the head or throat, they might die and you will enjoy prison soup for life. Only use brass knuckles as last resort, they are deadly weapons and should be treated as such. (Other advice such as slapping the opponent is complete bullsh*t. You go ahead...try it and comment later... if you will be able to of course 😉)
