Dan, please continue to make your learning vids targeted towards the newbies. Great info that the aged vets learn from, as well. Thank you, I learn more bushcraft skills from you and I appreciate you much. Keep the faith, brother. Chuck

I've watched many of ur videos. This (in my humble opinion) was one of the best. Also, it was a COOKING VID that did NOT simply make a swedish torch & drop a pan on top. That's what all the other 25billon KZfaq outdoor cooking vids were. Thanks for such a good quality teaching video!

For the rotisserie, a Dakota fire pit is awesome. The Ram-Jet function requires less fuel to create an extremely hot but controlled burn that is wind resistant.

I have been camping for a few years now without any open flame of any kind. I use solar power storage and a convection hot plate. I do miss cooking over fire. But here in Oregon you just can't have flames.

Good ideas Just remember not to use poisonous wood Either as utensils to cook with Or To burn for fuel If you make a fire and start to get a headache or feel nauseous..... Probably not good stuff on your fire 🔥

You guys in the eastern woodlands are freakin spoiled with the variety of trees you have. I’m in the northwest and have few choices beyond pines. I enjoy the heck outta all your videos and knowledge you share. Pine imparts a rather…unpleasant taste until you’re down to just charcoal. And don’t get me started on all your dang Y branches. 👍👍✌️

Awesome video! Great methods :). One thing though - I’m a wildfire information officer and it just gives me a lot of anxiety seeing there’s a ton of dry looking (admittedly hard to tell on video) fuel around close to the fire. Always a good idea to dig a hole a foot or so deep to put that fire pit in if you don’t have rocks around - no matter the season :).

Love these ideas! When i go to the woods i always make cowboy coffee. I am currently using the small stanley cook set that comes with 2 mugs. It doesn't have a pot hanger it has a folding handle on the side. Any ideas on suspending a pot like that? I am currently just placing the pot on the coals.
@tylerbarney96233 жыл бұрын
If you could put 2 holes just below the rim you could use a metal coat hanger to add a bail!
@frankhusel50333 жыл бұрын
Maybe you can squeeze the rim of your mug or pot between two flexible sticks tied together at both ends where they can be hanged upon outside the fire heat? Never practised that, just an idea. Furthermore, there are a lot of knots around to suspend cylindric receptacles. Look for the double fisherman's bend which is adjustable to a certain degree and would suit more than the barrel hitch. Look at www.animatedknots.com. Bye!

These methods are great because I hate carrying a grill grate like the basket broiler with me because its so large. If the handle was detachable in some way it'd be perfect but its just such a pain that Ive been using just a flat folding grill. Cant be more than just a pound, if that. Lay a couple of small green branches for supports and keep it level to avoid dropping food
