You help me to bring my cooking to the next level. Small tricks like using baking soda, browning the meat etc make such a huge difference. I don't even crave for restaurant foods that much anymore because honestly, the foods that I am able to create using your recipes are so much better!

On a side note, 'Wong bok' originated from Cantonese and it means 'Yellow-white', most likely referring to the overall colour of the Chinese cabbage when uncooked. We do call it 'Wong bok choi' ('yellow-white vegetable') by some Cantonese speakers here in Malaysia :)

I made the braised beef noodles yesterday. At least the spirit of Marion's braised beef noodles. The substitutions started right at the beginning...Whoops no beef short ribs, but I did have blade steak. Fine. It's a tough cut for braising. Avert your eyes Marion, for the list of substitutions to follow. Onion, garlic good. Oh no, the ginger's gone off. But I do have some nice pickled ginger for sushi. Fine. tomato paste.. fresh out. So instead a fresh tomato chopped up and a spritz of fish sauce to get the umami. Got the wine, star anise, cinnamon stick.. no 5-spice. Threw in some cloves instead. Have to be black pepper, no sichuan peppercorns and why bother with fennel with all the anise. Fine is all good. Going to serve and no spring onion, but tons of chives to the rescue. So, it was great! Of course, all the beer imbibed by the chef certainly helped! Love your channel Marion!

Also in regards to the beef, a decent coarseness is also important, there is nothing worse than really finely grinded mince, it ends up with a sandy dirty texture, you want a much thicker coarse of mince.

The Chinese cooking wine will keep for a number of months. I’ve seen recommendations to store it in the fridge; other sources say to store it in your pantry. So if you buy a bottle for Asian dishes you have a good, long time to use it up! Maybe Chef Marion will weigh in on how she stores it and how long it lasts for her.

What happens when you are wearing spectacles and you are standing over a *steaming* pot of noodles. Think. What would happen to ur spectacle lens when it comes in contact with the steam? :) Remember, Marion is infront the camera for filming and she needs a lot of studio lights constantly shining at her. What will you see on her lenses when it happens? :D
@ariel3725
@ariel3725 3 жыл бұрын
@@ributsuria and yet two out of the three videos she's wearing glasses with lenses. I know what fogging is because I wear glasses myself. It's not like she's putting her face directly near steam all the time. Also, it can easily be edited out by focusing on the food and not on herself. also, if your argument is the glare from the studio lights, studios usually comes with stuff like diffusers to help make lighting less harsh. It's not like they're using ring lights to highlight her face, they're not making a photoshoot or a make up tutorial where the light needs to be closer.
@ributsuria
@ributsuria 3 жыл бұрын
@@ariel3725 Chill, Ariel .This was never intended as an argument in the first place. Its just to make you think further what might be the cause of it. Besides, Its all about the presentation in making a good Cooking KZfaq video. :D Btw assuming if the studio lights keep reflecting of her spectacle's lenses, it would be funny in the production video when we as the viewer, watch Marion's cute face with "flashy eyes" effect everytime . :P And I wore spectacles myself and spent alot of time in a kitchen too , having the same trouble of foggy lenses everytime so its unavoidable. You must have a very good brand of lenses since it seems you did not have that dilemma. I would like to have those. You are a very lucky person :)
@ariel3725
@ariel3725 3 жыл бұрын
@@ributsuria You present arguments telling me to think and when your argument is countered, you're telling me to chill. you didn't even acknowledge my points and just kept going back to your own statements. my point is simple, wearing a frame without the lenses is nonsense. there is no value to it except for aesthetics. as the other comment posted, it is most likely for her to keep her "trademark" look. if we're going back to your argument of the inconveniences of wearing glasses (i.e., because of glare, fogging, etc), then there are options like contacts or even surgery. if she was wearing contacts underneath, means she already has made a conscious decision to move to a life outside of wearing glasses, I don't see why she have to keep pretending. If one day she posts a video of her not wearing glasses, people will be uncomfortable at first, but they will eventually get used to that.
