Hello Flosstube! We are two sisters who both love to cross stitch. Subscribe to get our videos in your feed every week.
In this video, we show how to make needle minders from lapel pins in three ways: with pliers, with a cordless drill and vice, and with a handheld rotary tool. These methods also work for enamel pins, push pins, and any other metal or plastic decorative piece that needs metal or glue removed.

🐈 This is just what I was looking for. I have a bunch of pins that I want to turn into needle minders. Now I can.

I never thought to bring power tools into the equation. I use sandpaper to shave mine down and that works really well and goes fairly quickly. Possibly faster than this as weird as that sounds. Nice tutorial, I'm glad to see someone else recommending the use of clear nail polish as a protective coating. 😊

It's really interesting to see how other crafters create! The way I make mine is with sandpaper, or some higher grit emory boards! (Nail.files) Thanks for another great video! ❤🐱

Oooh - is that a quick process? I might want to invest in some for the times when I can't make it to Allison's house before I want the needleminder. Is there such thing as a needle minder emergency lol? -Stephanie

I have a suggestion with the DIY Tool which is similar to an efile (electronic nail file - DO NOT USE A DIY TOOL FOR YOUR NAILS). You can actually use a lower speed, brace your pinky on the table or your other hand, and apply a bit more pressure in a more concise area. If you use a higher speed, the sanding stone will kind of "run away" from you. Maybe watch Nail Career Education's video "E-File Do's ✅ & Don'ts❌ What You Need to Know Learning E-File • Bits Explained" at about the 2 minute mark. I hope you at least try it, and if you don't like it, you can always go back to what works for you. Thanks.

May i ask, what exactly is a needle minder?
@Allisonatthemoment
@Allisonatthemoment 2 ай бұрын
It’s a double magnet that you put on either side of your fabric and it holds your needle for when you need to change threads or just put the needle down for a moment. Keeps me from having needles fall in my lap 😂
