I have a suggestion for a video idea which would be really helpful for no gi people who want to use judo. So in Bjj there is a dominance heirachy of positions on the ground of back mount, mount, side control, guard, half guard and so on... If you could show the heirachy of the most dominant positions of the standing clinch with no gi, with a demonstration of the throws that can be done from each of those positions. This would be helpful because you’ll know what grips you should be fighting for to set up your throws. And to know your options from each standing clinch position. For example the heirachy might be roughly like this : 1 double underhooks 2 body lock 3 body lock from behind 4 underhook + wrist control 5 double over hooks 6 etc... (the order is probably wrong here I’m just asking the question) Thanks again

Great exposition. What do mean by “sticky foot” at 1:57 ? Is there another term for sticky foot? I’ve tried looking it up

Thanks for the video coach, would you prefer soto makikomi or harai makikomi against freestyle wrestling stance?
@nickyonezuka-cranfordjkc49313 жыл бұрын
It depends on how he reacts when you attack. If you feel the attack is working straight forward, then continue with Soto makikomi. If he kind of stops the forward momentum by posting his leg, then use Harai makikomi to sweep that leg.

*De Ashi Barai
@cassiooctaviani4732 жыл бұрын
I also say De Ashi *Barai, because I was first taught that way, it seems to me more Japanese-appropriate (because of rendaku), and it is featured that way in notable books such as Kyuzo Mifune's "The Canon of Judo", etc. However, for some reason the Kodokan has stuck with De Ashi *Harai. So they can't be wrong either, can they? It would be interesting to learn which version of the name is used by *most* japanese judoka...
