3 ways to make your 2022 BRZ less annoying! (fake engine noise, seat belt chime, and hill assist)

In today's video we disable some features that make the 2022 2nd Gen BRZ / GR86 a little unbearable including fake engine noise, seat belt chime, and hill assist. With these easy solutions we were able to make the car experience much more comfortable and even went out to a car meet for the ending of the video! As always,

Your method for disabling the chime is so much better. The other video I saw involved taking apart the dash and unplugging the physical speaker that makes the chime.

In the video you are talking about, the guy mentioned the method used by Levan is a temporary fix. The chime will come back.

Great job dude, congrats on the success. New 86 owner here. Love the car. Good choice on the Artisa wheels. They are a huge value. I had an 18x9.5 +30 set of black Titans for my Mustang... insanely light for the spec and offset i ran.

It holds you back on hills if you don’t give it enough gas and it’s just not something I’m used to so it throws me off guard sometimes

The fake engine sound makes no sense to me. A lot of manufacturers are doing it but I don't like it. Unplugged it day one. The seatbelt warning chime is definitely excessive and is one of the few poorly designed parts of the car. That's a great trick to remove it if you wanted to. I happen to like hill hold, but if I ever wanted to remove it it's nice to know how. Thanks.

Great video. In case people don’t want to deal with unplugging things, just take it to Subaru or Toyota and they can disable the fake noise in two seconds with an iPad.

Got rid of my sporty Subaru back in 95 (89' XT), now that I don't really need a family car thinking about a new BRZ. I may go with the GR86 I like it's look a little more but a new Subaru would be my 5th so it's a little sentimental. This video was helpful and it was all in one. Did you notice the speakers sound better with the active sound disabled? I have a base gr86 and the sound system kind of sucks.

The sealt belt thing is pretty normal on any cars these days. I think it probably shouldn't be touch, is a safety feature that most likely save people lives.

In a video by Import Image Racing, they pulled the instrument cluster out, wasn’t too bad, like two screws and they disabled a speaker behind the cluster. How is yours working out? Did it mess up anything in the last two weeks? I’m curious because you unplugged it on the far right by the passenger and he’s on the far left by the cluster. And I’m just wondering like who is right or is something maybe off on yours lol? Great video man. Keeping the culture alive for sure 🤙🏻

Have you had any issues with paint on the hood? Mine, just exactly like yours including in black is having some "spider web" issues. Not a lot and I didn't even notice it until I was waxing it today. Wondering if the aluminium hood is flexing causing the paint to spider web? Wonder if the chime will turn back on ....soon?

Heya I have the 2022 BRZ limited and the first thing I noticed right away is a lot of valve clatter. That kinda noise is something I would expect from a high mileage engine not a BRAND NEW ONE. Is this some freakish norm for the Boxer in it?

Hey man, FYI because I had to do this with my car, if you unplug the battery, the chime disable will reset and you will have to do it again, so be mindful of that. #nfsgmember #my_wrx_was_there

Great advice B Levan but a minor point you really need to slow down your movement of the camera - its much too fast and too frequent. Perhaps dont wear it on your head if your actually driving. Otherwise great information

FWIW, Subaru will turn off the engine sound at the dealership if you ask them to. Owner’s manual even says so, so no need to unplug anything if you don’t feel comfortable doing so. Also, hill assist isn’t causing stalls and rough starts, that’s poor clutch/gas technique (babying them a bit too much) that can be corrected with a little practice. Nothing wrong with turning it off, but if you live where there are a lot of hills it’s a nice convenience to have as opposed to the old standard parking brake technique you’d normally use.
