I hope you can reach more young sailors and educate them on buying deprecating assets . You are doing a great service! Unfortunately this kind of stuff is not taught in high school. Balancing a check book and living on a budget is paramount. I don’t have a car payment per se , but I put $350 per month into a separate account just for car repairs; tires oil changes. As the account grows, one day I will call on it to upgrade my current car with cash.

Actually, as for credit and building your credit, if you have a total of 30% credit card usage your score will be higher. When I turned 19 is when I got my first credit card (prepaid credit limit) of $300. I made sure I used 30% of that limit by the end of the month. Within a year I had an 800 credit score. I didn’t care if I needed to buy a pack of gum to get to that 30% usage. Or if I was over I made a payment before the end. Than after the month I paid it off.

@@joshuawarren5205 how would I be able to pay it back? Do I spend it then deposit money back in it?
@joshuawarren5205
@joshuawarren5205 3 жыл бұрын
@@crishernandez6270 well it doesn't really matter what you spend it on. Might as well get your minds worth. This is what I did. When I got it, I maxed it out. And let that reflect on my credit for the month. And after that I started with the pay $1 more a day early. This shows the credit is being used. It's actually important not to get to much credit because you still want the utilization. No matter what others tell you, utilization is more important than the credit amount. Companies want to see they make money off of you, if you have so much credit you don't use, they won't wanna work with you and they know they won't make money cuz you're not using the card. Anyway. Start off by maxing it out and pay it right away. OR you can do which may be better, is make a purchase which is 30% of your total credit. Tgats the desired range to stay AT. not in. But AT EXACTLY 30%. And in no time you'll have a great score.

What i plan on doing is signing up for 6 years and just save every single paycheck until I am discharged. By then I should have a total of $120,000 or more in the bank and use half of it to pay for college, unless the military will pay for it, then, I get to keep all of it. If that's the case, then I can keep saving the pay checks until after college. that,ll give me a lot of money to live on while I look for a job.

If you are currently in collections you want to be in good standing as it can limit job selection. It is ok to have debt but work with the creditor so it is technically not in collections any longer, usually three small payments will be enough. Keep in mind that a green card might also limit job selection due to security clearance requirements.

great video the only thing I didn't like was you talking to people that are just starting to get their finances in line about penny stocks I think it's better to introduce people through ETFs etc. I think you are a smart guy but the video got a little shaky when you started talking about individual investing, the acorn talk was good though. Just my opinion I could be wrong. Also instead of saying you don't like to save, I think it would have been better to say I like to buy assets and then explain to people who don't know what assets are. I'm not sure if this made sense but it's just my opinion. As I'm writing this I see the video was posted 3 years ago, you probably know much more now.

Straight Talk is the best phone service. $35 a month and plenty of internet. After 1 year they give 10GB extra a month for free. Don’t need to be military for it either

Pickup with camper live in unit parking lot because you werent stupid and got married and had kids. If all you did in 4 years was that and spent minimal you would get out with a place to live and some money in the bank. Im so damn old, i was in when Mira Mar was a Navy base and i was in an E2 squdron who had a chief who lived on a RV in the squadron parking lot. My point here is what im telling you is an honest way to live and plan for the future. Myself i did live in a camper on base in NOLA and i also lived in a VW bus in colorado one summer. So the sacrifice with a goal pays off. Dont drink the materialistic coolaide. Sacrifice when you can for a better future!

I knew this asshat back in the day who would blow all his money on new accessories for his m4. I didn't even know you could bring your own upper. Still not sure if you can. We did a lot of questionable shit.
