This is the best tutorial on this topic!!! Thanks so much. I was able to use the drop down method to change my album cover art to new dimension requirements of my new distributor in 5 minutes flat! The way you describe the material is very easy for me to understand, not just the what, but the why, which helps me understand Photoshop even better as I go along. Once again, thanks for sharing your expertise!!!

I'm so glad you shared that last drag and drop into pre set canvas size method. I am an illustrator who works primarily on paper, for now, and have found translating my scans into images meant for web display slightly confusing. That last method seems like an easy way to prep images for display in a uniform and hopefully clean way. I'll be giving it a shot. Thanks for the tutorial.

You have no idea how much this video has helped me. I was able to go to Kinkos and print a picture on a canvas of a painting 🖼 that I've always wanted and put it in my house. The size was 30x40 and it looks amazing 👏😍

Okay I can't find the answer to this question ANYWHERE. What if you have a really big image and you want to size it down? or What would you do if you have a big image that you want to put on a smaller-sized document and still retain its original quality? It seems that no matter what I do, whenever I move an image to another document, and then I size it down, it's ALWAYS blurry or pixelated. All the pictures are shot on a 45-megapixel camera so I'm very confused.

@@johnnathanbaxter8749 Nope. I experimented a bit. I took a screen shot of my image in a more zoomed out view - it made it look a little better, but still blurry. You can check out my image here on my website - www.andreasanchez.co/. It will have to do for now.

You are a good teacher! Very clear and fast to explain. BUT, please, how this work when you start with a lower resolution image without using any paid program outside Photoshop? I'm having a hard time here to upscale images from 100dpi to 300dpi, even when I change it to a smart object. They lose quality and clarity. I'd appreciate it a lot if you can help me. I'm using PS 2020. Thank you :)

Great tutorial. I seem to be having the opposite issue. After dragging my image onto a background image & converting it to a smart object (which I've previously done for countless product photos) I'm losing quality when scaling that layer DOWN. It's becoming very pixelated as I shrink it down to fit the background scale. I'm ripping my hair out over here!

I did it the way you explained it here and it works 100%, but the problem is that I edit first in lightroom and finished my editing in photoshop. When I export my images from lightroom to photoshop my images are 100% perfect unless I crop or resize and that is when the image starts loosing quality even if I apply smart object.. have you ever done this?

Thanks for your tutorial, Brendan. How far can you enlarge a smart object beyond its original size and resolution without losing quality? Thank you.
@BrendanWilliamsTutorials3 жыл бұрын
It depends on the original resolution. For example, if you used the smart object method and enlarged the photo 10x on a new project, you're now looking that much closer at the image. Anything that was out of focus or blurry would be far more noticeable simply because the photo is bigger, but it would still technically have the same quality as before if that makes sense. Just imperfections become more noticeable as the image gets bigger.
