3 Ways to Wear a Celtic Knot | St. Patrick's Day Hairstyles

With St. Patrick's Day just around the corner, we wanted to upload a tutorial to celebrate our family's Irish/Scottish heritage {from both sides of the family}... a hairstyle I have wanted to do for a long time. The Celtic Knot.

The Celtic Knot has been around for centuries, traditionally used to adorn religious sculptures and various kinds of artwork. You can find several versions of this knot in hairstyle form on Pinterest, as well as a few KZfaq tutorials.
Today, Brooklyn and I wanted to create variations of this knot using curls as the base. Brooklyn just used her NuMe curling wand to achieve the curls.
Here we show you three versions, a Single Celtic Knot, a Double Celtic Knot, and a Side Celtic Knot. Believe it or not, but the side version is my favorite!
Now, because this is a winding knot, using only two strands, it can be very confusing to learn how to tie. This is why I showed you how to tie the knot "three" times in the video, hoping that the repetition will help.
I also show you a helpful tip which is useful in helping the knot to keep its shape, and to also help the falling strands lay flat.

PERFECT... we've been so loving headband curls and my husband is mostly irish, so, even though we aren't catholic (we were both raised in two different types of protestant), we love this holiday. This is a great idea when you don't wanna just do a shamrock in the hair

I did this hairstyle today and love it! A tip for others! If you have trouble doing this on yourself pin down the base of the loop with a bobby pin. That way you can do the hairstyle without loosing your grip on everything. :)

My auntie's doing this in my hair for my concert on Sunday, and we love how it just sits there for hours and she didn't have any of the dry wax stuff so we just used some water and hear spray and it worked great

I have EXTREMELY long hair and I have gotten so frustrated with the limited things I can do with it. So I took some time out to search and found CGH tutorials. I had already known how to french braid so I had a bit of a good start there, but these tutorials are WONDERFUL for me! I have used almost every one of these braids on my hair or my daughters hair and they look amazing! I get complements all the time on my braids and I let them all know where to find them at! This is extremely frustrating. I cannot get this. All I get is a massive tangle. (Which, admittedly, I could sneeze too hard and my hair would turn into a tangled mess.) But I can't figure out what you're doing. I even rope-braided my hair to try and make it easier to grab, but no dice. I can't do it blind and following along and I SERIOUSLY cannot do it in a mirror where everything's reversed. (I have a hard enough time doing a rope braid in a mirror it's so disorienting, so I should've seen that coming. Again, I digress.) I'm extremely annoyed because while you make this seem easy to do, I can't figure it out. The written instructions don't help, either. I'm also ironically annoyed at myself for being so riled up about it, it's just a hair knot. XD; I throw in the towel on this one for now. I can do loads of things with my mass of hair, but apparently this is not going to be one of them. At least for a bit.

I've learnt how to do these on myself and I usually do 3 at the back of my head, one near the top of the back of my head, one at the nape of my neck, and one between. They usually fall out quite easily but spraying them with hairspray has let me keep them in all day without them coming out.
