Just FYI, this particular ammo is not corrosive. There is a decent amount of test results out there, including at least one youtube video, that confirms this.

nice looking ammo. I love opening surplus cans it's one of the most enjoyable things to do as a collector and shooter it is literally opening a time capsule of perfectly new ammo!!

Ive never opened one before but watching somebody opening their own makes me want to get a ammo can to open one myself.

That’s Turkish ammo. From MKE the Turkish government run conglomerate of factories, formed after the government took over control of the private companies

ammunition with a head stamp MKE 65 is Turkish made ammunition. To my knowledge that ammunition should be non-corrosive. Turkey is part of NATO and the ammunition that was made by the NATO nations went to all noncorrosive ammo in the 50s 60s and 70s as far as the .3006 cartridge is concerned.

Yes, it seems to run pretty good. Had a few that took a second strike (no squibs so after a few minutes of it laying on the ground, I put them back in the clip and they shot)

The websites I have this ammunition says it’s non Corrosive

All of the old surplus from Turkey is corrosive. That just means there is salt in the bullet/shell/primer somewhere and you just have to rinse your barrel with water after you shoot it.
Hey folks are telling me this stuff will blow my m1? Have you shot a fair amount of it yet? I bought 200 rnds of mke 30-06 from 1963 dont know if i wanna pull trigger on it 🙃 if anyone knows what a good round to buy for my m1 is please share

Be very careful. I bought the same and shot about 100 with no problem. Last Friday at the range, shot 3 and on the next one, KABOOM, the case split open and broke my M1 garand stock. Some are saying there is a problem with the MKE brass. I don’t plan on shooting anymore. New stock is coming from CMP. Sad that a WW2 stock is ruined

These are FMJ with a non-metallic center; not lead tips. I hope this helps answer your question.

@@jamesruppert3152 It was a heavy duty tin as best as I could tell.

Lol, you don't need to put water through the barrel to clean the corrosive elements.
@wof34642 жыл бұрын
I usually run water down the barrel and then some Gun Scrubber and then air hose it off, then spray it with oil (the same with the bolt). I have been doing this for awhile now to get the salt out and because I don't clean my firearms between shoots through out the year unless I am not going to use them for a lengthy period of time. Seems to work for me so far.
