These 2 Pennies clubs Liverpool and Leeds showed strength and character. Liverpool with Keegan, Hughes, Callaghan, Heighway and Toshack what a team. Leeds, Charlton, Bremner, Lortimer, Clarke, Giles and Hunter were rough and tough too. RIP, Emlyn Hughes of Liverpool and Billy Bremner of Leeds.

This is great gr8 and thank you for another quality match. Being late sixties myself this is my era. Football was a joy back then with mainly home grown players and tackles that qualified the sport as a man s game. Brian Clough said money would be the ruination of football and true words were never spoken. The technical standard, speed and quality of passing is better today but the chemistry and camaraderie have gone forever. The final stroke for me is Var and the way it is employed. Once play has resumed there should be no going back. I yearn for football like this match I m watching on you tube but it s in vain. I m not happy about getting old but I appreciate I lived through the best years for football and great rock and progressive music.

i think a lot of todays players cant pass a ball properly. they hog it too long and often the opportunity is lost, they often dont see things as quick enough and a lot of them are too greedy on the ball.

1970 to 74 The zenith of football and Super Leeds were the best. I was there aged 13 in lowfields behind provincial building soc hoarding. Always good rivalry with Liverpool, a proper team; one of my favourite chants of all time. 'what's it like to be out classed Liv er pool, what's its like to be out classed Liv er pool?' MOT.

This was Liverpools 9th game in September. In the return League game at Anfield in April 73 they ripped Leeds to shreds and won the league

April 23rd 1973. We beat Leeds 2-0 in front of a jam packed Anfield on Easter Monday, to clinch the league. Cormack after 46 minutes and Keegan after 85 minutes. Absolutely tumultuous afternoon. One of the great Anfield occasions !!

19 caps and 10 goals. Phenomenal player. Should have had 59. Don Revie stopped him having a few as Leeds manager by saying he had knocks.

The people who say this Leeds were dirty, I wish they would watch videos like this and be educated. Leeds infinitely better side here, playing pool off the park, Liverpool score from nothing they had none of the play. What an incredible goal by Mick Jones, one of the most underrated forwards in the history of english football
@lajole95015 жыл бұрын
I couldn't agree more, Mick Jones should have been a regular international, deceptively fast and fearless. He was just one of those players who just went under the radar. Great player!!

I would love to have seen the late 70's / early 80's Liverpool sides against this Leeds side, now that would be a great contest. Liverpool at this time were still growing into the great team that they would become while Leeds at this time were arguably at their peak. Trophy wise it's a no contest, Liverpool were always winners, Leeds were mostly bottlers.

Leeds were the best but nobody cares what I think. Clarke, Cherry, Lorimar, Bremner, Giles, Hunter and Jones, was there a better team than this one? Nope. Crystal Palace, Queens Park Rangers, Watford and West Ham they don’t come close.

charlton was a lumbering awkward buffoon here. poor old lash was having an off day. jones was great. norm had a good look in. even billy didnt seem to have a spark. what was going on?
@karenblack74034 жыл бұрын
I was at the game and remember Jack Charlton slipping, Leeds had so much of the game,and as usual history shows us that they could have won much more silverware as they were at the top of their game fielding more or less the same side every week. Liverpool were the Leeds rivals and equally had the same squad throughout the year. Decent players in the first division sometimes let down by the pitches and dubious refereeing decisions,players who fought for every ball and committed to the clubs they played for, players mostly from the Home Counties. The game has changed but not for the better run by money, journeymen who join clubs with no loyalty to the clubs. Which is why Rugby is my favoured sport.

Leeds this leeds that...who won the game ? The Mighty Red Men who went on to win 3 more league titles in the 70s and 2 European Cups...2 UEFA cups ..where did Leeds go ? Downhill hahaha

Watching this, I can't help thinking that British football went wrong somewhere and has really lost something. Probably soul. Sold out to Sky and big business in the 1990s. Teams full of mercenaries who mostly have little or no connection with the cities or the clubs they play for.

British footballs relationship with Sky resembles Maria Schneider's with Marlon Brando in LAST TANGO IN PARIS when they improvised their own advert for "I can't believe it's not butter!"
