I watched your video years back to speak with deaf people at work and used another site to learn other things then I got promoted and haven’t came across anyone to talk to when I came back to where I started I was told we have deaf people so here I am back to relearn your training helps a lot

I’m so rusty in my ASL and I’ve come across several customers at my work who are deaf. I wanted to communicate with them but I was disappointed that I had forgotten many signs. I work in food retail, specifically Swiss chocolates. Do you have a video where it has basic food service conversations and possibly chocolate flavors/ingredients to sign?

Why is it "me" name and not my? Does possession not count for names? And why do you repeat "me" in "I'm hard of hearing"?

You can sign "my name" too. This is just how it was signed in Oklahoma/Texas where I learned. The "Closing Signal" "me" is just to let the recipient signer know when you're finishes. It's textbook ASL, but it's very normal to not use the closing signal in community conversations.

I've just begun - thanks for the videos. I have the alphabet and about 70 basic first signs. Why is the sentence structure so rudimentary? I'm more inclined to learn the signs - and put a sentence together as grammatically correct as possible, and let the other person figure it out. The "baby-talk" seems insulting - I mean I don't assume deaf people are illiterate. Why has there not been a move to correct this? At least I know how to sign - "Sorry, I'll do it my way".

I'm learning asl as well, asl is considered a different language because of the different sentence structure. The way she is teaching in these videos is accurate. People signing with asl just skip to the point contrary to English. It might seem grammatically incorrect to people speaking English but when signing asl that is the correct way to do it.

@@DakotaMcDonnell-je4fe Look - I know it's being taught correctly, I'm not an idiot - I did the research on the origins of the language, and it is the problem. It's like talking to a four-year old and I'm not interested. Languages evolve - anyone involved with this one should be ashamed of the lack of evolution of this drivel. It doesn't quote - 'seem grammatically incorrect' un-quote - it is. They have the correct signs for the words - just start teaching the kids to put them in the right order for an English sentence, don't deaf kids read? Ridiculous - I'm going back to studying French.
