At Sunset Sound in the early 1980s, longtime Prince engineer Peggy "Mac" McCreary was ill, so in stepped runner and asst. engineer at the time Bill Jackson. Being thrown into a room with no one else with the greatest artist ever was more than nerve wracking. Bill sits back down in studio 3 with famed photographer Mathieu Bitton & Roundtable host Drew Dempsey after 40 years to discuss the unforgettable work he did with Prince including "She's Always In My Hair", "The Glamorous Life" and Much More.

@@colinhodgesgroovymusic1545 It’s absolutely one of the highlights of my career. I was working on the album before I knew what it was and it was announced in the press. I followed along for the journey. Some nights it was just Prince me and the other engineer in the studio doing a new song from start to finish, Some days it was the full band. I also got to see some killer live shows along the way from the Internet to the stadiums

Prince’s business decisions regarding his live concert career were impeccable. In addition to things mentioned…putting tickets on sale just a few days before the show was an incredible innovation…his residency gigs in London & LA & Las Vegas were unique…the after shows…he knew his brand was built on his mystique & he used it over & over.

'She's Always in My Hair' is one of my all time favorite Prince Jams. the funny thing, 'She's Always in My Hair' was written for Jill Jones (who was his off/on girl). She hated the song, because she didn't like some of the lyrics..."Maybe I'll Marry Her, Maybe I Won't".

Thank you for this session. This was an amazing talk with those two. I cannot imagine being a runner and then being put on a session with Prince. Anybody else in the universe would’ve been a cakewalk, Prince would’ve been the most nerve-racking artist to work with knowing how he was with perfection and not wasting time. So God bless Bill. As was said, if you can get through a Prince session… You can record anybody else in the universe. Truly amazing.

Mathieu Bitton is a kind of annoying, yeah he’s a big fan, but he is kinda creepy how much he knows about Prince.

This Mathieu Bitton guy is annoying and always interrupting questions intended for Bill Jackson. Such a weirdo! Anyway, the host was good & Bill Jackson told great stories.

As obviously talented as he was the thing that comes across in all these interviews is that he was a bit of a dick. It costs nothing to be polite to someone

Not sure but this guy seems to ask a lot of negative questions. Did he have insecurities, was he mean to you…. He brings up all negative things. Mixture would be nice

Everything discussed here is already known, words like legend, GOAT etc. doesn't sum the genius of PRINCE. There will never be another one, the man was better at EVERY aspect. I've seen thousands of shows and nothing came close to opening night of the LOVESEXY tour in Minneapolis, his performances were extravagant and life changing. RIP LiL Man, thanks for letting me ride.
