30 minutes of octet musical's cast recording being iconic

i know this isn't an art video, don't kill me- i can't film speedpaints until the sound of my computer is fixed.
but pls listen to octet by dave malloy, thank u.
if you want more details about it: it's a musical that talks about internet addiction and its negative effects on us. it isn't written like how a boomer would write it, and it actually makes us empathize with the characters a lot.

the first time i heard "oh you fOOL" i got such chills omfg. especially in the context of the rest of the show, where it's been "damn the internet is wrecking everything" and then there's just this moment where it's this small source of good and jfc it's one of my favorite moments in any show

honestly i agree that part in actually def gets stuck in my head the most among all the songs and also the "the path gets bigger" part of monster haha. also, i too, have memorized the binary part religiously. it was one of the first bits we got exposed to thanks to a clip dave shared and it is iconic!!!

I saw Octet at Signature Theatre in May when it was first showing, and it is really frustrating to me that people won't listen just bc they dont want to hear about the negatives of the intetest. Malloy wrote this entire thing so sensitively and approaches real issues and I just have crazy love for this show. I wish people gave it a chance and appreciated the ARTISTRY!!!!!!! (also all the performers, THIS IS COMPLICATED MUSIC, and they sound so great)

once i heard it i couldn't unhear it, but in that one part of Candy (starts 05:46) the backing vocals kind of sound like the Temmie theme from Undertale. (idk if Dave Malloy did that on purpose? to fit with the game theme? i'm prob just making things up lmao)
