I wouldn't worry about being a solo boater locking up with a crewed boat. If Clair had been with you then you'd have done the same. Its all swings and roundabouts or swing bridges and locks in this instance. Looking forward to the next one Vince.

No problem Vince I’m totally democratic. Your two part London Vlog had me hooked anyway. Painted the East End, from Thames lock passed the Bryant and May match factory and a fair way up the Lea in 62/63 while at St Martins. Still painting the cut. Happy days remembered. Thank you William.

Fantastic as usual Vince … I used to feel guilty when single handing but then I thought ‘well they have crew and would be doing it anyway 😂😂’ I help still when I can such as opening my own paddle going down, then jumping back on 😂. Ah Berkhamsted, I started my working life in an ironmongers there back in 1964. There was still some trade on the canals which gave us lads something to do helping with locks. Will I think we helped... An enjoyable video as usual, thank you.

Quite the historic place to visit. We have those little free libraries over here too, and I frequently leave and take a book. NIce to have another narrow boat helping with the locks.

And for me, no addition music is great, I like to hear the engine, the birds, the chit chat with other boaters, the wind and the rain, with one exception, I like the over dubbing of your narration, if YOU think YOU want to pass on information to us viewers..... great. Wish I had more time to investigate when I was there last. I did notice a lot of change especially the main High Street. It looked as if it has been pedestrianised. Another very interesting vlog Vince and the previous vlog gave a good insight to your expenditure for the past year. Always been interested in canals and narrow boats but never had the opportunity to spend time on them. The nearest we`ve got to them is when we spend time in Stratford-upon-Avon with our grandchildren whilst walking the towpaths, a fascinating life. Another great video Vince. Understand completely how you feel as a solo boater and feeling the need to contribute as much as you can when others assist you. I would feel exactly the same and its something I've wondered about when contemplating adopting the same lifestyle. Regarding the reversing, do you have a bowthruster and could it be used to help maintain direction?

Another brilliant vlog Vince, Berkhamsted looked a really interesting place, your video`s remind me just how wonderful the English countryside is, great bit of reversing there, did it take you very long to get the hang of driving the boat Vince, or did you struggle at first, all the best mate, Terry.

Was watching your boat while you reversed, does yours drift to one side more than the other (my bow always drifts to the left in reverse) drives me mad when I see others going straight backwards with no need for a spot of forward thrust. Berkhamstead is lovely, the museum is great also from memory like a smaller natural history museum.

You call it "Canal Time" my explanation is "there is always tomorrow"and I think that's better because you an carry that forward for as many times as you need to. You were saying that you always worry about being a burden, if you let people help you too much. I suffer from the same problems so I do wonder if it's something that is age related from the time we were growing up, everything was much harder then and everyone had to be far more self reliant then because there always seemed to be so many tasks that needed urgent attention. as I said much earlier, I often used to feel the same a you do until I thought about and realised that people are not going to offer to help in small ways unless they really want to, or they are too busy so remind yourself of that occasionally. Oh and I almost forgot, it's a great idea to share ways you have found to make tasks easier, I often do that and I have not even found my first boat yet, I almost did but I was too slow, as usual. Take care Vince and look after your self.
