@@Halo_Legend Honestly as a fencer it's half the community around it (at least where I live), and also the kind of mind games you can play with your opponent. Fencing is very much a sport that relies on understanding who you're fencing, and how to counter them and score your own point. Kinda badly explained but I hope you get what I mean.

As a Gymnast you weren’t wrong about the women’s gymnastics. Men’s is more big hulks of muscle throwing themselves around hoping to some divine being will save them from death by apparatus or slipping/falling.
@JustaGuy_Gaming
@JustaGuy_Gaming 3 жыл бұрын
I always found funny was men were as you say sculpted muscle and usually about 20 years old or so. The female Gymnast though are like 14 and tiny.... something very odd there. Also hard to get into that sport given how much info has come out about just how badly abused those girls are to be that good so young.
@CharlieQuartz
@CharlieQuartz 3 жыл бұрын
@@JustaGuy_Gaming I’d argue it’s because women have huge development periods physically during puberty and are as flexible as rag dolls while men experience those changes more gradually. If you watch, the men are also much shorter than average. So probably a mix of how girls at 16 can have as much muscle as a 22 year old while men get stronger and stronger and it balances out flexibility. Plus women tend to get their motivational momentum together more quickly. And yes to the disheartening conditions that gymnastics will have to deal with and correct moving forward. Edit: “man” is not plural

@@snuscaboose1942 Personally, I am more interested in the sports that have performative aspects. Racing and competitive sports are fine and can be exciting, but I’d much rather watch a creative, dramatic display of physicality like in gymnastics, figure skating, and diving. Double jumping in a video game is when you jump and then jump again in the air. Basically, you are jumping off air, this is clearly impossible-try to think of the physical reason why-in real life, but he is making a joke that it is actually possible, but triple jumping is part of a conspiracy to cover up that fact. I imagine that since triple jumping in real life has nothing to do with double jumping in video games, people would not try to double jump in real life as they would think it was like triple jumping.

@luminousmoon4340
@luminousmoon4340 3 жыл бұрын
@@otavioluiz554 Basically, there are 3 disciplines within archery. You've got longbow (which I won't talk about), recurve (the bows at the olympics), and compound. The compound bows use a clever system of pulleys and wires to reduce the draw weight extremely while keeping the same power. To give you an idea, let's say that a recurve bow has a power of 30 pounds. The recurve bow will then require you to pull back at the bowstring with a strength of 30 pounds. A compound, on the other hand, will only require maybe 5-10 pounds of strength to be fully drawn, while keeping the same power. Because of this compounds are often much more powerful, and can shoot longer distances. Due to that as well they often have telescopic sights, multiple stabilizers, a draw length indicator and a lot of other gadgets. Overall that makes a compound a lot easier to shoot and get accurate shots with. For example, it took me about 1.5 years to get accurate with a barebow recurve (without any gadgets at all, but you can put some gadgets on recurve bows as well). At that point I could consistently hit a 5cm target at 20 meters. A friend of mine shoots compound, and he was that accurate within 4-5 months, mainly due to the reliance on gadgets and the reduced draw weight. With a compound you learn more to shoot using the vizor and an identical process every time, whereas with a barebow recurve you have to train your instinct to be able to predict where the arrow will go. That compounds have so many gadgets and don't require much strength to shoot is probably why it isn't included in the Olympics. In my opinion the amount of extra tools used on the recurve bows at the olympics is still way too much, but that's another discussion. If you have any other questions feel free to ask :)

Racewalking: "Welcome to a sport where athletes' bodies literally give out and refuse to function" Can confirm, I was racewalking because I was late to a class one night and my legs felt concerningly hard after just 300 meters, then I started running and it was actually easier

Ok why do people always make fun of race walking saying “that’s easy, I could totally qualify in that.” The physical activity if running is also something that most people can do but you never here people making fun of runners in the Olympics.
