Thanks for the index, I love this kind of detail. I have a question as a chess noob and I'm asking here to decrease the chance of elitist trolling: During the "Weakness" section, at 7:30 Levy made a valid point but moved a knight like a pawn. Am I missing something? Or am I just being too detail oriented?

In my opinion, endgame begins when one of the kings (or both) can start playing active attacking role. Doesn't need to actually do it, but he can. In the middle game, the king is generally defended and other pieces are attacking. At least for me, it's easier to recognize this than guessing by the number of pieces.

Good video, the language of a game is important to understanding it. I think it'd be interesting to gather the 'abstract' chess rules that people like to mention; 'always take toward the center', and break those down. When to follow it, when not to follow it, what ELO ranges the rules are most important in, and at what level players should shy away from the abstract term to learn the more nuanced ideas.

Hi Gotham, love your style of teaching. I’ve learned practically everything from your videos and chess.com. I would love to see a video where you can just walk through a few games with your thought process. I’ve seen a few from you but I mean something more basic. I’m at a point where I know an opening, some tactics and have a weak end game. When playing I feel like there are just so many ways to think about a move. Meaning: Do I defend, attack, set-up, trade, advance, gain the center, count the attackers, etc. That’s chess I understand but it seems to me like the basics and then some lore practice and reading can help someone like me put it together. There are strong gaps in my play that I think needs some “Basics” attention. I’ve had games where I beat a 1400 bot but lose to an 800 bot exemplifying my gaps. Playing live chess against friends over a board I rarely ever win. That’s another suggestion, can you help look at an over the board game? It’s much harder to see the pieces and figure out what to do. On a screen where it’s at the top to bottom angle it’s much easier. Thank you much for your effort a d great content, much appreciated.

I was just thinking about Levy mentioning he was making a chess terms video, and here it is, as instructive as I knew it would be!

What a gosh plum treat this was. Honestly, more terms, more about tournaments, ratings, kinds of players, just more about the chess world. Really nice getting cozy into it.

Hi Levy, ty for the content, helps me a lot. And I also have an idea for vid, maybe you’ll do some explanation on how to improve chess visualization skill, to count moves not only with arrows, but in your mind as well🤔

For your next general information video, can discuss over the board tournament etiquette? Things like "don't offer a draw during your opponent's move" and other smaller details?
