Cité Memoire app ... discover the history of Montreal and the projections on the walls.. The app on the mobile phone is well done ..... Montreal has 400 years of history, culture and architecture to discover . The archeology museum in the old Montreal is impressive.

I'm not one to write comments on KZfaq, but this video inspired me a lot, so here's how I would describe Montreal, from a Montrealer's perspective. I have traveled to many great cities around the world and nothing compares to Montreal honestly. It's a small city with a big soul. I resonate with some answers from this clip: "walk/bike around and feel the energy" or "it's not the places but the people you go with". Montreal is an amalgam of many neighborhoods that all have something to offer. Visit all of them to understand (Plateau, Petite Italie, Quartier Chinois, Mile-end, Saint-Henri). Montreal is also gastronomy (helicopter, moccione, montreal plaza), bars (henrietta, Brasserie harricana, Bar st-denis, atwater cocktail club), clubs (Datcha, sans soleil, stereo), shows, music, etc. The people here are kind, generous, and open-minded. You will feel safe and welcome. Hope you enjoy your stay. Cheers -M

🐢 this is a wonderful video, as someone who is planning to go to Montreal next year, and potentially move. Can be overwhelming trying to prioritise your time, and discerning what is and isn’t worth doing. Hearing from real locals and even visitors in video format is way better to me than some random blog or website. Some really great answers here, so helpful. Can’t wait to go. Cheers!

BEST video about Montreal I have seen so far. You managed to steer clear of the old tired clichés and get real content from real Montrealers or from curious tourists that are really enjoying our unique city. Bravo! I would like to add a tip: find a way to get invited to a party at a Montrealer's home. There you will get to experience what Montreal hospitality, sociability and "joie de vivre" is all about.

We are moving to Montreal in August without having ever visited for more than a day. This video makes us feel that we will be comfortable there despite everything. The people of Montreal remind us of the people of Newfoundland and Labrador, inviting and welcoming while also minding their own and open to different types of personalities.

Montreal is probably the happiest place I have lived in. This is making me a bit nostalgic. I left 12 years ago now. A few things I would add: Montreal Botanical Garden, the nature parks in the west along the water (Cap Saint Jacques, Ile Bizard, etc...), ice skating in some amazing places (lac au castor, vieux port, ...), X-country skiing on Mont Royal, and the amazing "spectacles d'improvisation".

I'm coming to Montreal next week. A few things for people who don't like touristy stuff - Leonard Cohen exhibit at the MAC, Cinema Monderne is a coffee shop that shows indie and artsy movies in back. Stogies Cigar Lounge if you're into that. Dieppe Park is the place to go for sunsets I hear.

In spring or summer, hit the "terasses". These are the street cafés. Not necessarily for the best food but to enjoy the air of "insouciance" outside, after the winter. This is what the locals do. Café Olympico is a popular summer time spot for this but Bernard st., Mile End, st Laurent are good too. You can skip Schwartz if you're from NY, LA or don't care for smoked meat!

As a montrealer, the #1 tip I can give is explore OUTSIDE the downtown area (old montreal included). Visit the jean-talon market, cote des neiges avenue, masson st in rosemont, wellington st in Verdun, bike by the water in lasalle & visit the rapids (you can even go rafting there), buy take out from a local restaurant, get some wine or beer and have lunch at a park like a local! & lastly enjoy all the festivals, street markets and fun activities that go on all year long, winter included!

My 3 favourite things to do in Montréal are: going to the botanical garden and biodome (the botanical garden is beautiful and huuuuuuge); walk around St. Laurent to do the graffiti walk; the Fine Arts museum. I also like just wondering around, checking out the Old Port, Jean Talon, etc. And ordering a pizza at Il Focolaio!

I'm moving to Montreal on august 10, (It's May 30 as I'm writing this, for future people !) and I just can't wait, I keep watching all these videos about my future city and I couldn't be more exited, I don't really like to sound like someone who romanticize a lot, but I just cannot help myself to feel so much happiness and hope because this city, the people, everything appears to be like the perfect place to live, such an open-mindedness, artful, curious and nice island....Idk but I'm just so freaking hyped. You should definitely do a video on the Lachine Canal bike path or the les Berges bike path. Starting in Lachine and it's old town the church the college St-Anne, then making a stop around Parc René Lévesque on a sunny Saturday or Sunday to see people from everywhere cooking food on public BBQ and having a good time. Then stoping for a beer at Terrasse Sainte-Ambroise, then stroll all the way to the old port. If you choose the Berges bike path then you must stop at the par des Rapides right along the mighty Lachine Rapids in LaSalle this is an amazing parc where you can feel the power of the Saint Laurent. Then you can stop to see surfers at la vague a Guy and pass by multiple sports venues and crossing the Verdun beach.

🐢. I would like to visit Montreal someday, why not? I think it's a friendly and warm city which it's worthy of being visited. It's a bilingual city as well as Canada in general. Most of the people there speak English and others speak French. I'm pretty curious, so I'd like to know your age 😊.

The official language of Québec is French, the mother tongue of 77.5% of the Québec population (8.8 million). Montreal, economic and cultural metropolis of the province has the status of French city. Certainly, Canada recognizes two official languages, English and French, on the same footing of equality. However, bilingualism is the fact of the country's Francophones, due to their minority status. This is why 40% of Québécois are bilingual, particularly in Montreal.

As an Ex-Montrealer, Having a car in downtown Montreal is totally terrible.. There is NO parking, and if there is, you will PROBABLY get a parking ticket. In the summer, Montreal is crowded with people, cyclists and cars. So don't drive in downtown Montreal. And if you are going to be here for more than a few weeks, learn to SPEAK FRENCH, which I do everytime I come. Even though My favourite language is Spanish! (Sorry) Montreal is beautiful! In the summer.

1. If you have a non Quebec plate, do not park on the streets overnight - lots of breaking in cars with foreign plates 2. Mtl is mostly about 'on the go' food - $10/$15 a plate 3. You want to visit the quieter commercial streets inside residential districts such as 'The Plateau' 4. If renting a Bixi bicycle, Please read the reviews on Trip Advisor first or it's going to cost and arm and a leg 5. Schwart's is the biggest messy hype in Montreal. Eat at any La Belle Province instead. 5. Montrealers are friendly on the surface but rather awkward in their relationships. Don't expect much human connection

To work, yes. Unless you want to just do cleaning jobs. French is the official language of Quebec, just as Swedish is in Sweden. Quebec is not an officially bilingual province. To visit, no. But outside of the big cities, in rural areas some may not speak English well or at all. In tourist areas everyone will.
