"A defect in the cloning process." According to who? Niomi explicitly states (in MGS4) that his accelerated ageing was by design. It's not a defect.

I'm pretty sure it was actually stated in MGS1 by Liquid, however it was retconned in MGS4 because of Naomi's explanation as you pointed out, but like I said I'm not 100% sure.

Just saw this on /r/Games. Nice video, loved the reference at the end. One small correction, Solid Snake's aging wasn't due to a defect in the cloning process. Snake's DNA was altered on purpose in order to protect the 'IP' per say, in case he was to ever switch sides. If someone tried to clone Solid Snake they would only have the defective DNA.

No. He sent solid snake to report false information because he expected him to fail. He succeeded and killed Venom which is why big boss went into hiding. I know man it's some convoluted shit.

Great video but venom snake didn’t create outer heaven, big boss did, he just let Venom run it while he ran foxhound from America. Look at the ending blurb of phantom pain where it clearly differentiates big boss and his “phantom” in 1995.

The4thSnake sorry you’re right it is a minor point it’s just become a personal pet peeve of mine after having long drawn out arguments with people about how Venom didn’t establish outer heaven, some people believe venom ran foxhound and outer heaven until his death and big boss stayed underground until Zanzibar which isn’t true.

Okay hear me out Tenchu and metal gear happen in the same universe. •White haired ninja protag •Paul Eiding voices both Azuma Shiunsai and the Colonel •the protags get marked near or on their eye (big boss gets his shot, Rikimaru gets slashed, and Raiden gets slashed) •Both are old but solid Stealth adventure game series that serve as theatrical drama stories •when rikimaru goes to the future, he ends up battling "Mr. D CEO", a cyborg business executive, who runs a pharmaceutical that released a virus, killing many people. This Mr. D CEO has an exposed metal arm. Very metal gear if you ask me. I bet there are more similarities but those are the ones I noticed. Just a fun little theory

I liked it overall, there's a few issues here and there and personally I preferred the tone and narrative of (don't panic) Peace Walker, which I found surprisingly engaging. The actual twist in MGS V is extremely well foreshadowed and serves a purpose to the plots of the MSX games and ties the series as a whole together. Like I said, there's some issues but it wasn't really awful. A lot of the problems could well be accounted to budgetary and time constraints towards the end of development, hence the abrupt ending.

Good job! Though I would have preferred that you elaborate on some events. Like what was SOP and why was it created or how Boss went into space etc. I understand of course. It's a timeline not a story summary. Could you cover Castlevania and Resident Evil next (after 3d dlc)?

Thanks. I do wish I'd elaborated on some things, like how we know when Snake died or when Big Boss was born, but these videos are always super lengthy, so I didn't have room for them. I'm planning to cover those two some time in the future. I'm waiting for Vendetta and Not A Hero to come out for RE, and Castlevania will come some time next year, since the rest of this year is fully booked.

I know this is a year old but if you'd still like to know, SOP was a system put in place by the Patriots to have complete control of the battlefield by suppressing emotions, ID locking guns, and such. Snake dies about a year after MGS4 with a smile on his face, after spending what remained of his life crossing off a bucket list and traveling the world with Otacon and Sunny. Edit: Also The Boss went into space as part of a dangerous NASA project she subjected herself to, and was kept completely wiped from any records of such.

Not gonna lie I'm still confused... all this time I thought it was separate timelines or something and the reason why was because I was a kid when I played my first metal gear solid game. I played snake eater and remembered ocelot being young and then I played phantom pain and thought it was a different ocelot but I was wrong apparently...

Another reason I was confused is because the release dates of the games and the fact that it's a lot like star wars in terms of in game dates... what I mean by this is that star wars episode IV was actually the first one but just took place further ahead in that timeline.

wouldn't metal gear 5 also explain why we had so many body doubles for big boss? like the one we thought was killed somewhere half way through 4 (the skeletal guy in the bag) but then big boss appears later completely fine.
