Calm down. Joel is cool and all, but its no different how they should treat everyone. The other fact is Joel doesn't decide where I eat or should he decide where anyone eats. Everyone should experience it themselves. His experience can be different from yours. KZfaqrs , critics, and celebrities are not influencers to the strong , only to the weak. This challenge was amazing looking.

I lived in Japan for a year and a half, and they didn't really do desserts. We got so excited once because we found doughnuts but of course, couldn't really read the package. When we bit into the doughnut we were very disappointed to find they were filled with soybean. From then until we left Japan, we made our own doughnuts and desserts. Those desserts looked very good and soybean-free.

I've never heard a benihana called a hibachi. To me a hibachi is a small charcoal grill used on patios to grill steaks or meat because a Weber kettle is too big. There's a place called Iron Chef near me and they call their table a grill with a benihana chef. The food was excellent and the guy was very entertaining to watch! I can't believe you ate that whole thing! LOL Good job Joel!
@ipissed
@ipissed 2 жыл бұрын
Neither are correct hibachi is a space heater first, but you can warm things up or boil tea over it. The patio grill is pretty close, but a flat top isn't remotely close to the true definition.

Remember that away from Japan, many Japanese terms can be misinterpreted by many. I know that Hibachi is a type of grill due to learning to understand Japanese (a necessity in my book as i'm more into the Videogame Industry (which in it core is Japanese as Japan placed many today's standards in the Industry ever since the 80's) and the Drama/Manga/Anime (most of which never get out of Japan and if they do they're not the same thing) culture) but for many (specially in the US where grills are known as giants pieces of equipment as the have very giant portions of food) the Hibachi is the Style of cooking associated with Benihana
@mrhockett1
@mrhockett1 2 жыл бұрын
@@alpha34098 Good for you getting a book plug in there. A grill doesn't have to be giant or cook giant portions of meat. Ipissed also said they were used as a space heater. Not possible due to using charcoal produces carbon monoxide. Sometimes people seem to just want to argue their point. I'm out.
@ipissed
@ipissed 2 жыл бұрын
@@mrhockett1 From the Benihana website: In the U.S., the phrase “hibachi-style” is occasionally used to refer to what is really teppanyaki cooking. Hibachi grills are called shichirin in Japanese and are small, portable barbecue grills that are made from cast iron. These grills have an open-grate design and commonly use charcoal as their heating source. Modern hibachis in U.S. restaurants are electric so that they can be used to cook food indoors. By contrast, teppanyaki grilling involves using an iron griddle with a flat, solid surface to prepare food in restaurants in front of guests. So in fact the real Japanese word for the western misinterpretation is shichirin, and a hibachi is a space heater. My post with links was deleted, but you can see for yourself if you open your eyes.

Hibachi is a small grill using various heat sources. A Hibachi grill is a tiny substitute for a BBQ grill. They are usually cast iron and very small. (This is Missouri learning for me.) I've never had sushi or even oysters on the shell. Great job Joel! Thanks, Papa Bob in MO.

I've gone so many times and love it! They've made onion ring towers that they lit on fire, thrown eggs in the air and split them open midair on the side of the spatula, doing martial arts moves while cooking, they would squirt sake in our mouths across the whole table from squirt bottles and because they did it from feet away it would get all over your face and once on my birthday they accidently grabbed lemon juice! They served the lightest best salad for starter and miso soup then the delicious meats and veg that you had. Such a great experience every time! There's several restaurants in Maine!
