Did they fix the turbo run time? the V2 couldn't hit turbo if the battery was 85% or less.

Yes! I definitely should have mentioned that! After some testing, Unlike the v2.0, the v3.0 can be switched to Turbo anywhere above 3.5v which is roughly a little below 50% battery!

After buying it, for fun, I tried to find reasons to return it ... and I found more reasons to keep it. The rotary switch is EVERYTHING. I also own the version 70 headlight, the $100 one, which I freaking adore.

It was the first Fenix I bought as well. Got a PD36RV2 and a PD36R TAC right afterwards. I really like 21700 lights! 😂

With such an advanced light, you would think the charging port would be hidden in the sleeve instead of those old styled rubber stoppers. 🤷‍♂️

Does the version 1 battery work with this light or just v2? Thank you. Edit: It doesn’t. V3 is much better.

Can you toggle through the rotatory switch with one hand while using the flashlight ?

I personally find it pretty easy with the upgraded rotary switch to switch with one hand. I could maybe see someone with child's hands having some trouble getting from Turbo to SOS because of the speed bump, but I could definitely be wrong in that assessment. 🔦

6:19 The turbo has a runtime of 2hrs and 40 minutes but because of its smart temperature regulation, it will step down after it reaches a certain internal temperature which will vary based on your enviornment!

Is this a good police Duty light?

That is mostly up to you and your needs! Some pros are the long throw and easy rotary UI that also acts as a roll stop! However, it has a somewhat narrow beam angle so your peripherals might be not well illuminated and there are not any self-defense elements on the bezel. I know for longer throwing lights border patrol look at the Nitecore P23i as well as the up-and-comer Fenix TK20R UE and for more City police they go for the Nitecore P20iX. All of these lights and the PD40R v3.0 are good options as they all hover around the same brightness but they all serve different purposes and have different UI's, so again you know your needs and I am sure we have a light to fill them!

1:31 this light uses the Luminous STF70, a great LED that is more geared towards throwing than the origional!

It's not versatile enough. We need a 5 lumen setting for longer battery life. It brings security in case of major natural disasters where there's no power for some time. If the v4 doesn't have it, then I've given up on Fenix for never listening to customers.

Checkout or new pd35 v3, it has an eco mode at 5 lumens for 230hr runtime!

@@LonghornTactical nah, I prefer the pd35r for the range and nice beam profile. For EDC the baton 3 pro is superior for run time.

5 or 10 Lyman’s isn’t going to be that much of a difference. Sorry but your reasoning of no power is in valid…. You can get cheap battery banks, you can charge in your car etc. finding power to charge with it’s as hard as you think in natural disasters. He’ll buy a few extra batteries…
