You are correct!! No need to drop alternator!! Remove the belt, and you can access it from the top. You won’t be able to see it but you can take a picture with your phone to see it. The hardest part is releasing the lock tab on the wiring harnesses!! I used a deep impact socket with a 3” extension and had no trouble. Seriously half my time was spent with the locking tab!! Should take an hour. Thanks again for your video!!

Well I had my doubts but I was able to get it replaced without removing the alternator. The hardest part was sliding that clip to the side so I could get the connector off. That alone took me over an hour a half. But getting the alternator bolts off was not much easier so I stuck with it. On my 2007 300C it's pretty much a blind deal too. I had some mirrors to help me at least see what I needed to do, but I could not use the mirror at the same time I worked on the clip. Had to use a small screwdriver and just feel my way and eventually got it. Once the connector is off the rest is east peasy.

Thanks! I just did this! I uses pieces of paper towels to fit the sensor snugly in the socket, once I got the right angle to see the hole it was easy. I agree with other comments the hardest part was releasing the tab, I was able to reach it from below with a screwdriver. Thanks again

My only problem was finding out where the heck it was. Now that I know the location, I can hopefully replace it without too much trouble.

I just did mine when putting in I used a socket the fitted snug on the plastic only (I did not apply pressure while turning it just enough to get it in a few threads) then removed it and used the correct socket.

No need to remove alternator. Remove the serpentine belt and air intake duct, and if you need any extra room u can remove the electric fans(all easy to do). I found it nearly impossible to get the red lock tab released so I just took a long flat blade screwdriver and a hammer and used them to carefully break the sensor off right at where the plastic meets the brass. Once you do that you can pull the electrical connector out and remove the lock tab and pull the three prong connector out of the wire harness. Then you use a 1 1/6” deep socket to get the brass section out of the engine block.

Does something cause the sensor to go bad or is it just by time

Put it on a lift get from the bottom . No need to disconnect anything It's a 27 millimeter socket is a perfect fit

Dads 300 threw an engine code. Had it read and said oil pressure sensor. But no pressure warning or anything. No leaks. So I figure it’s just the switch but I thought it might be easier from underneath the car.

I had my car looked at they wanted $105 for labor to replace this switch not including price of part
