OK, I had to buy one of these... I already had a Swordfish model in stainless, but it didn't have the date window. I also don't have any full titanium watches. I opted for the Frost dial this time, since the lume looks amazing! This is my 8th Zelos watch.... yes, call me crazy... my wallet already is yelling at me. Great review!

Right there with you @Lee S. Although this is my first Zelos, I'm really happy with the Frost. Did you notice how Tang and company have put an outline around the index cutouts on this Frost dial? I had not noticed that tiny little accent on the other Frost dials and it almost creates a visual beveled edge effect that tricks the eye.

Great review! In addition, and I cannot express this enough, THANK YOU for reviewing a watch that is coming out .... not sold out! I've been eyeing Zelos. I just bought this same exact watch. Only 9 left when I bought it. I have never owned a Titanium watch and I almost picked the frost but I own way to many white dial watches and after seeing the video and how this looks on your wrist, it had me sold on the color. I was actually at a Breitling dealer this past week looking at an Avenger and I was looking at buying my last watch for the year, and buying this saved me over $3200. so my bank account thanks you. The Titanium and bracelet had me sold. The Avenger is a 43mm, and this being 42mm is my favorite size. Thank you for having such a great review and made it easy for me to pull the trigger

Great video, but few things that need to be mentioned -- the satin part of the clasp it's a real scratch magnet, and the screw links of the bracelet tend to unscrew by themselves. I have the latest Zelos Thresher with the exactly same bracelet (but in steel) and the satin part of the bracelet it's already scratched out, and couple of occasions the bracelet screws started to unscrew just by wearing it, and finally while transporting it in the watch box the bracelet completely lost a screw and fell apart. I talked to Zelos about it and their solution was to glue the bracelet's screws (which I did) :-D.

I ordered the teal version. one of the major advantages to titanium is that it has a very low temperature coefficient. Meaning that it does not transfer heat very well. So in the cold winter months it is not a big heatsink on your radial artery to make you even colder.

Thanks Dave! Your review along with Jody's over at Just One More Watch sealed the deal - with only hours before launch! I would not have known about this watch in time if you hadn't reviewed it! I went for the show-stopper, all singing, all dancing full-lume dial version. I can't wait to get it in. Thank you for all the background on titanium. I'm going into titanium ownership with a better understanding of the pluses and minuses of this interesting material. I was concerned that this may have been too big for my wrist. But I compared the numbers against my Seiko SNZH57 "55 Fathoms" and that watch comes in with equal specs: 42mm diameter, 48mm LtL, and 14.2mm height. Also 22mm lug width. Don't think this is going to be any trouble on wrist.

Appears to be dust yes the hand edges aren't well finished but as some said this might be prototype which if not mistaken was send free. Of course frankly speaking, a watch that was send to be reviewed on the web should have been flawless to attract with it's finishing potential buyers. Not the best marketing the way the watch is. I'm pretty sure though the production models will not suffer from these issues and will be perfect.

My first JDM watch was a titanium Casio Oceanus. Definitely a shocker when I held it for the first time and there was very little weight to it. That watch has a titanium carbide coating however, that holds up much better to scratches it also costs a fair bit more. My experience with Zelos has been a good one. I own the Great White 1000m Diver and it's a beautiful piece powered by a Sellita SW200.

Great video. Seen lots of Zelos reviews, but nobody talking about these new models with this fire clasp. Just the clasp makes it a keeper. A couple of mentions though. I believe it's all titanium except for the clasp which is stainless steel, which I kind of don't hate. Also, the bracelet has this sort of disco ball effect as I turn my wrist, really cool looking, but not too bright or sparkly like it might be with a stainless steel bracelet. Also, titanium's weird. It's always marketed as stronger than stainless steel, but that's incorrect in the context used. Titanium is stronger that stainless steel by weight, but weaker by volume. That's to say, if you've two watches, identical in size and all other aspects other than one being titanium with the other being stainless steel, the titanium one would be weaker and lighter. They like to say titanium is 60% stronger and 40% lighter than stainless steel, but it's really sort of one or the other. There is a volumetric sweet spot, where the titanium object is both stronger and lighter than it's stainless steel counterpart, but the titanium object would be larger. So, with respect to watch bracelets, if you wanted a titanium bracelet to be both lighter and stronger than a stainless steel one, then it would have to be thicker or beefier than the stainless steel one...or they could weigh the same and the titanium one would be much beefier and stronger...probably best expressed on a graph.

It's a great watch, I'm assuming a prototype...quite a lot of dust on the dial and hands. I'm sure won't be present in production versions. People don't appreciate the costs associated with the quality control required to ensure there is not a single particle of dust on the dial. It is literally hours of work. One of the primary reasons that Swiss Made usually means additional price. Swiss labour is very costly
@Mister_Phafanapolis

@@Mister_Phafanapolis they do not. What they have is a culture of excellence that pervades all aspects of their manufacturing. @@SecondHourWatches I do not care what passport the people who make my products have or what geo-political designation a product is made in. I don't even really care about the logo. All I care about is the quality of the product and how much I paid for it. If you admit the factories are willing to mirror the quality if a brand owner insists upon it possible then it's possible to build a top tier watch in China. Therefore I'm willing to pay more for a good or great watch from China (or Singapore or India or wherever) and it'll still be half or a third or less of the price of a Swiss watch. Nevermind the fact that most "Swiss" watches are made from cases, bracelets, sapphire glass, movement ebauches, screws, jewels and a million other bits made overseas and then assembled in Switzerland like a parts kit. Basically, someday soon the Chinese are going to show that the Swiss watch industry has no clothes and it's a house of cards built upon extensive luxury marketing.

I like that your disclaimer on the gushing review turns out to be a pretty realistic and not at all gushing review of the watch....nice work! I like the unique look of the brand, and of course their lume. Have not scratched that itch yet, but it is on my long term list. I own one titanium watch (a citizen) and likely would opt for steel. Titanium is cool and glad I own one, but I prefer steel and wouldn’t pay extra for titanium in general. And yes, the whole sell out quick thing is mildly annoying for those that don’t get the fever for a brand. I guess once you commit to getting one, you will make sure you get in right away, but the whole line up at 3am the day before for that 65” Black Friday TV mentality is not where I am at with my collecting ATM. 😂

Great watch. Great review. With another name on the dial this would sell for literally ten or fifteen times as much and guys would still say it's gReAt VaLuE fOr tHe mOnEy. If this wasn't a diver I would be all over it. Unfortunately I'm sick of dive watches. Watch guys are _way_ behind the times on titanium because knife/everyday carry guys have been on the titanium train for decades. As an EDC guy I have tons of bits and bobbles made from titanium. Watch guys are like little boys that love trucks and diggers and bulldozers. They want heavy stainless steel and BRONZE dive watches that will literally rust but think that premium titanium is "too light" and "feels cheap" and "scratches easily." The EDC world was in the equivalent of the dive watch craze a decade ago when every hot folder was a thick, heavy "overbuilt" titanium frame lock flipper and Hinderer knives went for more than retail in the resale market. Fortunately the tides turned and now slimmer, thinner, smaller, more elegant, more refined knives are en vogue. Modern slipjoints are cool now, like the Benchmade Proper or Enrique Pena's work. I'm waiting for the equivalent to happen in the watch world.

I tend to agree, however this is a way more original design than most other micro brands put out, and as such I've noticed that this brand seems to easily maintain it's value on the used market! So even though it's a higher price point, I feel less hesitant due to that fact.. otherwise I would really pass on it. In fact if you look at NTH for instance, they are between 600-700 and that I feel is way too much for a watch with just a basic NH35A in it...
@tommydude969

I can see your point but some people might prefer other qualities of the watch other than the movement. Any other fancy movement would jack up the price considerably. But say something like the meteorite dial for 550 might be considered expensive to you but there are no other titanium watches with meteorite for under that price, not to mention all the other features the watch offers. the nh35 isnt the best but its at least as reliable as the rest of the watch

No, that's the stainless steel variant. The Titanium hasn't been released yet. Keep checking back, it should be released sometime in the next two weeks.

Too late! Not much value in reviewing watches that are already sold out. Still a nice realistic look at a top micro brand.

No, you're too early. They're sold out of the steel variant. The Titanium is set to release this week or next.

I’m sure you’ll be able to get one on eBay if they sell out. I just searched and there are a lot of Zelos there

I am sorry but the movement is the heart of the watch! Nothing really wrong with a NH35 but if you own this watch long enough to have it serviced you will find that it cost less to just throw it in the bin and put a better movement in it. A good watchmaker is about 100 USD per hr and it will cost you less money to just throw it in the trash. The problem with these cheap watches is they are for the most part not even worth having them serviced as the cost to do so far outweighs the value of the watch in the first place. When I was younger I loved diving and did it for about 15 yrs and can't stand a stupid date complication on a so called dive watch! The last thing to go through my mind when I was diving is Gee I Wonder What The Date Is Today? Retarded for the most part. Save some more money and buy a better watch!

Buy a movement off ebay and have a watchmaker put it in, What's the problem?

@@PepRex Exactly my thought or do it yourself. If you've got the tools it's do-able by anyone who is patient enough. Better than burning down the house and building a new one because the lightbulbs burned out.

@@PepRex You just stated the problem with your reply! The movement is throwaway and not even worth the time to service. Save some more money and get something that is made well and is worth servicing and NOT something that is cheap to be made to throw in the trash!
