Is she supposed to be true upper class? I don't remember this storyline super well but I assumed she was supposed to be golddigging, like to an extent rich people wouldn't bother to... and both her parents were supposedly poets (which I guess could be a fine way to phrase "independently wealthy" tho). And she's implied to not really be a mutant. Still feels like you might be on to some kind of trope tho.
