No offence to the England women ( they did well) but it isn't "56 years of hurt" over. David Badiel was singing about how the England men's team haven't won a world cup in (now) 56 years. Even if the men's team wins the euros 2024, until we win a world cup, that saying is invalid .

true story: the English anthem "god save the queen" is a french music written to celebrate the recovery of the king of france Louis XIV. later it will be translated into English and adopted as a symbolic anthem

This is not actually a true story. It’s an old 19th century French myth now popularised online. The tune is likely of 16th century English or Scottish origin.
