I think I might account for half the views of this video. I've been watching it before every long run for just over a decade. And at the thirty mile mark when Josh points ahead and says, "one more hill"...I was so inspired that I got it tattooed on my arm. I see it as "Just another challenge. You got this."

I hope you know you inspired me to be my best in high school about 10 years back. I watched these videos religiously. I really miss those days but it's nice to look back after all these years.

Starting running after the first time I watched this video nearly 15 years ago. 20 marathons, 6 100-mile races, 100k's, 50k's...and on and on later and this still inspires me. Good memories. Miss the old Cox/Hall/Meb days ...some of the best.

Right now in my nascent running career, I cannot fathom running 31.6 miles! That is otherworldly. Way to go! You have my utmost respect. I hope to complete a marathon some day. Right now I am running a "mere" five miles a day but eventually that distance will grow...You have to crawl before you walk. This is a great video and is very inspirational. Thank you!

Simply fantastic... The effortless running in miles 20 makes my 20 mile effort so stark in contrast. Thanks for showing the end of the run. A runner who gave his all for a training run is awe-inspiring. Congrats on the record!

it is inspiring to watch, as this guy is actually bloody good at running. it is a shame the trolls who take pleasure in slating video's just to feel good about themselves, whilst hiding behind a monitor. anyone who does a "training" run in the mountains, for 30+ miles gets my respect.

@Moronathoner The intro music is the David Crowder Band (O Praise Him (All This For A King)). And the song at the end of Johnny Cash is also David Crowder Band doing "the lark ascending". Awesome band.

Josh is wearing arm warmers. Mammoth Lakes has pretty low humidity at elevation, so even 80 degree temperatures can actually feel a little cool. Those warmers help prevent the hands from getting cold (and are also helpful for wiping your nose after a, um, snot rocket); quite helpful for a three hour run. :)

Mammoth Lakes, Cali. rises to 7900 ft. above sea level. A group of elite us distance runners train together there under coach Terrence Mahon including Ryan Hall, Meb Keflezeghi, Deena Kastor and Josh Cox.

Couldn't agree with you anymore. What makes you a better runner is the work and effort you put into it. It's not complicated, but to get to the next level, you have to ask quite a bit from your mind, body, and soul. What are you willing to sacrifice to attain your goals? No piece of technology is going to give you that answer.

I laugh my ass off and in awe at the same time, everytime I see the very beginning of this video. 1 minute hard/ 1 minute @ 6 minute pace X 10. There's not a large part of the population that can run a 6 minute per for even one much less for repeats. So can only assume that the hards are in the 5's. But elite runners just bust that shit out like its a Sunday jog.
