I'm a former U.S. Army soldier (twice) and an Iraq War (OIF) veteran and I absolutely LOVED "Dog Soldiers"! The banter between the lads, although with rapid fire British slang, sold it for me as much as did the werewolf effects and action. A good friend of mine in the UK actually asked me to write a fan fiction crossover of "Dog Soldiers" and "An American Werewolf In London", last year. When I emailed the finished product to him he loved it, although he said I needed to better familiarize myself with British slang. 😉

As an American, Dog Soldiers was awesome! Yes, I didn't understand much of the terms that the soldiers used, but that did not take away from my enjoyment whatsoever! It's also a pretty underrated movie also, I feel, despite the amount of love it gets!

Anyone who was bullied in their adolescence then had a moment where they snapped and fought back can connect w Let the Right One In. Not to mention it looks amazing and feels like a vampire story taking place in the real world, while maintaining urban legends and never getting cheesy. 5/5 easy #1 on this list

Great video Bryan, always fun watching 31 on 31. Watched Dog soldiers recently, really liked it. Besides that, of all these movies, I have to say that even tough I watch hundreds of horror flicks a year, Dracula (Coppola) still gives me nightmares. Brilliantly executed, especially the scenes with Lucy that have been shot in reverse to give it that extra creepy look, bone chilling.

Cool ranking. I’m not huge on vampires, but I do have some nostalgia for fright night 1 and 2, silver bullet and the lost boys. I also like the night flier from the mid-90s. Sad it didn’t make the 31.

Hi, Bryan. This was a fun video and list. I've seen 26 of the 31, with those lacking being Teen Wolf, Stake Land, Twilight, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, and Renfield. I did see a Lincoln movie, but the version I saw focused more on his emancipating the slaves and preserving the union and less on his nocturnal crusade against the undead. I think that Spielberg had wanted to tell the complete story of Abraham Lincoln, but Daniel Day-Lewis insisted on killing real vampires to prepare for the role, and that proved to be a tricky proposition (I don't know but I think it was something about the insurance cost running too high, or maybe it was that they couldn't find any vampires for him to kill because they don't exist, I really don't remember what the reason was). Anyway, of those I have seen, this is my ranking: 01. Near Dark 02. Let the Right One In 03. An American Werewolf in London 04. Interview with the Vampire 05. The Lost Boys 06. What We Do in the Shadows 07. From Dusk Till Dawn 08. Bram Stoker's Dracula 09. Fright Night 10. Ginger Snaps 11. 30 Days of Night 12. Blade II 13. Brotherhood of the Wolf 14. Blade 15. Dog Soldiers 16. Underworld 17. Fright Night Part 2 18. Fright Night (2011) 19. Thirst 20. Silver Bullet 21. Vampires 22. The Howling 23. Daybreakers 24. Blade: Trinity 25. Van Helsing 26. An American Werewolf in Paris The last three are the only ones that I gave a negative rating to, with the rest varying from decent to excellent. I am still planning to check out Daybreakers again after your review, and I also want to revisit Silver Bullet, but I am especially interested to see Let the Right One In again with your take on its meaning in mind (I do remember seeing what you are talking about towards the end of the film, but I am curious to watch it with that interpretation from the beginning). I do think it has the potential to take the number one spot, but I am also hankering to revisit Near Dark (and I really want that one on 4K soon!)

Let the Right One In is one of my favorite horror movies of all time, and definitely my (2nd) favorite vampire movie (No movie can beat the Lost Boys, because I have watched it about 367 times). But I love Eli & Oskar's relationship -- it's very creepy and the grooming of Oskar is next-level scary. If you enjoy reading, I highly recommend the book-----it's even creepier/darker!!! The writing is super. Thanks for a great line-up, Bryan.

@@cinemaniac78 Probably true, very much so, but maybe it's a good decision for a debutant director to display his reach in terms of visuals cause studios will pitch him scripts, worked for Tony, and to have that cast for a first film is...wow. I still think the Bowie character is tragic and evil and desperate, quite unique.

Loved the vid and the roaster! Thank you! I have to say that I really like most of the outings here and already seen 28 out of 31 before watching the other 3 in preparation to this awesome tradition you guys brought to us. So thank you! here is my short ranking and I’ll leave a more elaborated list in my first comment . Let’s start with the few I hate: 31. Twilight. 30. What We Do In The Shadows. Now for the ones I don’t like. 29. Teen Wolf. 28. Ginger Snaps. From here on, everything here is decent to me(some for guilty pleasure of course). Now for less better ones that I still enjoyed. 27. 30 days Of Night. 26. Daybreakers. 25. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. 24. Stake land. Now for the ones I like(the fact that we still got so many to go shows how awesome this 31 on 31 is!!): 23. American Wolf In Paris. 22. Bram Stoker’s Dracula. 21. Thirst. 20. Blade Trinity. 19. Let The Right One In. 18. American Wolf In London. 17. The Howling. Now for the ones I really like(which again, is just crazy considering how many more I have left!). 16. Fright Night(Remake). 15. Underworld. 14. Dog Soldiers. 13. Brotherhood Of The Wolf. Now for the ones I really really really like: 12. Blade 2. 11. Van Helsing. 10. Fright Night 2. 9. From Dusk Till Dawn. 8. Renfield. From here on out all the movies are in my top 50 horror movies of all time. 7. Silver Bullet. 6. Near Dark. 5. John Carpenter’s Vampires. 4. Interview With The Vampire. 3. Blade. Now for the two movies from this roaster that I’m in love with: 2. Fright Night. I love this movie! It’s in my top 30 favourite movies and my fifth favourite horror movie overall! Jerry Dandrige is the best vampire characters and I really like the other characters as well. 1. The Lost Boys. It’s my favourite horror movie and my seventh favourite movie of all times! I love all the characters! The two Corey’s are the standouts here!

Here I’ll be giving more reasons to why I ranked the movies as I did. Let’s start with the few I hate: 31. Twilight. I just hate what it did to genre. Don’t care for the plot or characters. 1.3/10 for me. 30. What We Do In The Shadows. I like the idea but really don’t like the execution. I tried to give it a chance but it didn’t work out so… 1.6/10 for me! Now for the ones I don’t like. 29. Teen Wolf. Never liked the tone or the production. 2.5/10 for me. 28. Ginger Snaps. I thought I’ll like it more, but it just isn’t for me. But I can at least see the appeal.3.2/10 for me. From here on, everything here is decent to me(some for guilty pleasure of course). Now for less better ones that I still enjoyed. 27. 30 days Of Night. I like almost everything here, except the look of the vampires, which is my least favourite maybe ever! 5.1/10 for me. 26. Daybreakers. So cheesy, but I still like it! 5.2/10 for me. 25. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. This movie is ridiculous, but I still like it. I didn’t liked Abe or the main Villain Adam but I think the rest of the characters are actually really good. 5.9/10 for me. 24. Stake land. This was one of three movies I’ve watched in preparation for this 31 on 31. I kinda liked it but I wish the production value was just a bit higher. 5.9/10 for me. Now for the ones I like(the fact that we still got so many to go shows how awesome this 31 on 31 is!!): 23. American Wolf In Paris. I have nostalgic memories of the first time I saw it, but upon recent rewatch I realised I just don’t like it as much as I used to. 6.1/10 for me. 22. Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Out of all the movies here, this is the one the last rewatch has hurt the most. It’s way less interesting than I remembered. Dracula himself is great and Keanu’s ascent is comedy gold. 6.4/10 for me. 21. Thirst. Really nice filmography there. I really liked most of it. 6.7/10 for me. 20. Blade Trinity. I know some people hate it but it still really good compared to most modern comic book films. I also like the Deadpool prototype we get from Ryan Reynolds here. 6.7/10 for me. 19. Let The Right One In. I like this movie but the language in this one made it rough for me as a non Swedish speaker. 6.7/10 for me. 18. American Wolf In London. This movie is still great for me, but it hasn’t aged as well as some of the other films here, at least for me. 6.9/10 for me. 17. The Howling. I like this movie. Very classic. Tough I don’t really like to rewatch it for some reason… still, great werewolf movie in my eyes! 6.9/10 for me. Now for the ones I really like(which again, is just crazy considering how many more I have left!). 16.Fright Night(Remake). I really liked the first two acts but the last one not as much and Billy Cole was sorely missed… 7.4/10. 15. Underworld. I always really liked it! Way better than the sequels and it got Some style. But I never truly loved it like some people do. 7.6/10. 14. Dog Soldiers. This was one of three movies I’ve watched in preparation for this 31 on 31 and I really liked it! It’s awesome! One of the most underrated in this list. 7.7/10 for me. 13. Brotherhood Of The Wolf. I always really liked this movie. The period, the style, the actors and tone are all great here! It’s not a traditional werewolf movie and I don’t care! 7.8/10 for me. Now for the ones I really really really like 12. Blade 2. I used to really love that movie, but the effects and plot didn’t aged as good as the first one. I still think it’s an awesome movie! I also don’t like how they brought Whistler back just because… 8.2/10 for me. 11. Van Helsing. I like everything about this movie, specially the cheesy parts. It’s very fun to watch and I love the action. I also find it hilarious how slick is that werewolf hair. 8.3/10 for me. 10. Fright Night 2. I saw that sequel three years ago and really wished I’ve seen it sooner. Really liked it. Very cool! It’s a 8.3/10 for me. 9. From Dusk Till Dawn. I really liked the beginning and side characters but don’t really like the ending. But it’s the one time I really liked George Clooney in anything… It’s a 8.4/10 for me. 8. Renfield. This was one of three movies I’ve watched in preparation for this 31 on 31 and I was shocked on how much I like it. I loved both Nicks in this one, but I wish the ending was less cheesy. Still a great movie for me. Still, my favourite movie of the year so far… 8.8/10 for me! From here on out all the movies are in my top 50 horror movies of all time: 7. Silver Bullet. RIP dear Corey Haim! I really loved this movie ever since I was a kid and it’s my favourite Werewolf movie. 9.1/10 for me. 6. Near Dark. I always loved the tone of this movie. Great characters. 9.1/10 for me. 5. John Carpenter’s Vampires. To me This is the most badass Vampire movie ever. The tone is really unique. I love James woods in it and love the Neo western vibes! 9.3/10 for me. 4. Interview With The Vampire. I love that classic take on Vampires! I love the periodic feel to the movie! Tom Cruise is so amazing here! Also, Christian Slater, Antonio Banderas and Kirsten Dunst. 9.4/10 for me. 3. Blade. It’s my sixth favourite comic book movie of all time! Love the action, Blade himself and Deacon Frost are the best! whistler is great! It’s A 9.7/10 for me! And now for the two movies from this roaster that I’m in love with: 2. Fright Night. I love this movie! It’s in my top 30 favourite movies and my fifth favourite horror movie overall! Jerry Dandrige is the best vampire character and I also really like Peter Vincent, Charlie Brewster, Evil Ed, Amy and Billy Cole. The effect are so awesome and I love the 30’ meets 80’s vibe here! 10/10 for me! 1. The Lost Boys. It’s my favourite horror movie and my seventh favourite movie of all times! I love all the characters! The two Corey’s are the standouts here but also David, Max, Grandpa and Michael are very memorable to me. I love the tone and unique style of the movie. 10/10 for me!

Great list! Couldn't watch them all unfortunately, but I was able to watch 13 of them. And with Blade 1 and 2, Fright Night (original and 2011), Lost Boys, Renfield and 30 Days of Night there were some very solid movies between those 13. What we do in the Shadows is still my favourite, but those others were also great. I also watched some stinkers (looking at Underworld), but hey you can't win them all. Enjoyed your list.❤ Enjoyed watching the 31 movies this month before 31 on 31. I was sad to see the howling so low on your list. It is number 1 on my 31 list. I really like the book it was based on by Gary Brandner. The howling book is very different than the movie. My ranking 1 The howling 2 An American werewolf in london 3 The lost boys 4 From dusk till dawn 5 Thirst 6 Ginger Snaps 7 Dog soldiers 8 Bram stokers Dracula 9 Interview with the vampire 10 Underworld 11 An American werewolf in paris 12 Reinfield 13 Fright night part 2 14 John carpenter's Vampires 15 Blade 2 16 What we do in the shadows 17 Twilight 18 Silver bullet 19 Daybreakers 20 Near dark 21 Blade 22 Van Helsing 23 Fright night 24 Blade trinity 25 Fright night remake 26 Let the right one in 27 30 days of night 28 Abraham lincoln vampire hunter 29 Teen wolf 30 Stake land 31 Brotherhood of the wolf

Great ranking Bryan! Finally I am not the only one who feels American werewolf in London is overhyped just a little! I always felt like the comedy is out of place for me. I am so glad you liked Silver bullet! Silver bullet is my favorite werewolf film and Fright Night from 85 is my favorite vampire film!! Cheers!!

New to channel and love the content. I have absolutely no issues with your ranking and there are a few gems I haven't seen but where is Salem's Lot. I know this was for movies but if anyone is looking for a vampire series that was pretty good I would suggest checking out (The Strain) 4 seasons.

@@BryanLomax This show did have the annoying pre teen kid factor that played out. Outside of that I was fine with the ending. It was kind of one of those bitter sweet moments at the end.

I don't really want to defend Goyer's directing talent (since the rest of his directorial resume isn't great either), but this one seems like it's tough to know what is his fault and what is Wesley Snipe's fault.
@BryanLomax

I'm gonna blame Goyer for not getting his actor under control. Nolan, Tarantino or del Toro would never stand for that kind of behaviour.
