32 Chunk Takes a Hunk Outta 747! July 3, 2024
747 is napping, minding his own biz, when outta the blue, 32 Chunk comes in and bites him! The dominance testosterone is flowing! I guess he doesn't wanna share "his" island with 747. Then, he goes to a rock, stands tall.
Then, he walks towards 89 Backpack, "asking" him to leave, too. (He just goes towards him, but after his confrontation with 747, 89 Backpack makes a wise decision to leave.

Bears aren't bullies. He's jus being a bear. Trying to attain dominance can seem "mean" but really its a means for survival. Lots of bears have done this in the past. Luckily, they're all resilient!

@@jmcnature8114 Both can be true. Personalities among bears vary. They express "being a bear" differently-i.e., Grazer v. the other sows.

Hmm how would you describe this behavior to attain dominance in the hierarchy ? They attain dominance through intimidation imposing their will on ones weaker than themselves , forcing others to go an come at his descretion ... In the dictionary thats the very definition of a bully , bears can absolutely be bullies....@jmcnature8114

Well, to be fair, Chunk did call that spot with his scat pile earlier in the day. You can see it at 1:54. 747 should have known he was looking for trouble.

This was a bit startling to see live today. My adrenaline was going for so long afterward. 32 Chunk, please go mate and use some of that testosterone to help calm down. Thank you for this video & explanation.

Saw it happen live. Re wound and watched again. Got to say I felt the indignity right along with 747. Someone makes me get up that fast my legs also crumple thusly. Hope he hasnt put anything out. Chunk is determined to be in charge this year, enough 'beartosterone' for ten bears!

32 is only returning favor. 747 attacked from behind and harassed to many other bears in the past. That was one of the reasons 68 challenged and pined 747 down in 2019.

@@jmcnature8114 yes, 856 was the only boar can be dominating by his presence except 2017 and this year. His reign maybe numbered though. 32 is his prime now. With how tall 503 is, he shall soon a force to be reckoned with, just like 856. Happy 4th!:)

@jmcnature8114 Cool, the last time I was at Brooks Falls was 1996, when Hyper Agressive BB-24 first showed. He dominated for 10 years, 856 came in shortly after.
