Thanks! I looked into your method of fold crimping them, but I wanted something a little faster. The 32 isn’t that much different from fold crimping a .410, it’s very picky! Right now I’m trying to adjust the pre-crimp to go deep enough to eliminate the holes in my crimps, but if you go just a hair too far the hull will buckle on you. I feel like a bigger and beefier hull would be a little more forgiving.

@@pc8649 the cheddites are way tougher than the fiocchis. I’ve got my way dialed in now with proper stack height and crimp pressure. New hulls come out looking nice. Slow but works.

@@theshotgunscientists I finally broke down and ordered a couple bags of the new primed hulls from BPI. I should have them in a few days and I am eager to see if they will cooperate a little better. Overall, I am pretty happy though with how these turned out, just needs more fine tuning. And once that happens I’ll probably never remove it from my drill press which means I’ll probably have to go back to the hand drill when I do my roll crimps lol.

@@pc8649 I’ve loaded both, the cheddites are thicker and studier. You may need a hull skivver but I don’t use one and get good crimps.

@@theshotgunscientists I ordered a hull skiver too, but according to the BPI description those ones are already skived.

I ordered direct from OMV's website, paid with a credit card. They ship internationally, real easy transaction and company to deal with. Forgot how long it took to get the package but it was pretty quick, somewhere between 7-10 days.

The H&R shoots them fine, just hardly ever extracts them which is a pain. I've shot clays from my trap thrower with it. Really I just use it to chrono different loads I am working up to to see what is usable, but it is worthless to pattern with. I am waiting on a custom SxS 32ga from Italy. If you are getting hulls like that it is also possible that things aren't tight enough and you don't have enough pressure and you get slow and incomplete burn. Or you have loaded them too many times and the hulls are separating. I did find someone who would pressure test 32 gauge loads though. He just has to make the test barrel which would run about $600. So if you have some loads you want tested, I am looking for someone to split the cost of the barrel with me ;)

@@pc8649 oh I never knew you had one of the H&Rs, I’ve got one of them with the rifled barrel and that things worthless as a shotgun, past about 15ft there’s a gap in the center of the pattern bigger than my hand. I thought about having the barrel threaded and having some chokes made for it but then I got the o/u. When I first got that h&r it didn’t always extract the first time I opened it but I cleaned it and oiled it and it’s always worked since then except when I loaded some with the pressure too high then they’d stick in it, those are the same ones I had to break my o/u open over my knee with.

@@Beccaccia28 Originally I had a Fausti, but had an issue with the gun and I returned it. Then I had one built by RFM which is what I use. That’s pretty versatile to have 28 and 32ga barrels. I thought about that with mine, but I figured that if I had a set of 28ga tubes I would never use the 32!

@@pc8649 Nice. Which model of RFM did you buy? I am going to Verona for the European Outdoors Show in February 2024. And a coincidence, but just last night I was thinking about talking to RFM about a 24ga when in Verona. I went to the EOS this past February and enjoyed the show and loved Verona.

Yeah, I don’t remember what recipe I was using for this video but I also didn’t have the height of the press adjusted right. I think I got it pretty much locked in now and the crimps are looking a lot better.
