The glass peices they use in outdoor gas fire places are very pretty in resin. You can do a stained glass look. Put a thin layer of clear first in mold to go about half way up the glass peices. Then place the glass peices. Let cure. Then fill mold with black opaque resin. It will give it the look of the lead outline between the peices. Its quite beautiful.

Wow! What a great idea! I’ve been sitting on a 10 lb bag of a beautiful square light green fire pit glass… just waiting for the perfect project… thank you for spelling that out here… half way up then the black in between why did I never think of that?? Thank you! 🙏 😊

@glitznglitterbymichelle1 do a search on Google for ...fire glass. You will find different colors and different shapes and sizes. My next one I am using a mirror metallic marker to coat the back sides of the glass peices. You can also put fantasy film under them if clear peices to change up the appearance.

Great video. Thermochromic powders (changes colors with temperature). Interference powders are also called ghost powder or Aurora powder sometimes. Chameleon flakes are a little different than chameleon powders. Glow in the dark powders. Waterproof LED fairy lights. Pigment Dyes can come in translucent or opaque. Dried Clay. Kiln dried wood, best to coat with resin before using, so you don't have as many bubbles.

You can also get mica powders in “glow in the dark” and “heat activated.” At least I think they are mica powders. I don’t know what else to call them. I’m working on multi-colored glow in the dark wind chimes for my grandchildrens’ bedrooms. Thanks for this video. When I started in resin I was so confused by the different ways to color resin. This would have been a big help. 💚

This was a gr8 video for beginners who as we all had thought at some point “hmm can I use that in resin?” I thought a great video idea would be covering all the different pigment names/differences such as; Pearl, pearlescent, holographic, chameleon, iridescent & so on. Also other types of foils they sell like the heat transfer, or the decorative metal fused transfer films that come in sheets or even tiny ones that come for nail application & different ways how u can go about applying them. Most have a commercial licensed adhesive that they insist on using or a nail lacquer that is a specialized type but there’s definitely room for showing people how to save money & different hacks for all of that. Thanks for the helpful tutorial once again, Allyson

Let's Resin Alcohol inks are one of the best at not fading in sunlight. There are opaque resin dyes, Let's Resin also has a set of those. My favorite way to just color resin without using a paste is Acrylic ink, you can achieve anything from transparent to opaque with acrylic inks. Another favorite is Octopus Resin Inks, which are a form of alcohol ink, but are more color than alcohol. You can use them as a color for resin and for blooms that you don't want to spread as much as it will with alcohol ink. They also make alcohol inks, so be sure you are getting the right one. There is also glow powders and thermochromatic powders. Glow of course glow in the dark. There are also glow dyes and alcohol inks. Thermochromatic powders change color with hot and cold. Your hands, your drinks, and even lights or sun can cause reactions. You can also get a liquid version of it that you can use in the channel of the rings to create a mood ring. The last one I've thought of is embossing powders. You don't mix embossing powders into the resin. You let it cure, then use a stamp to put a print using embossing ink onto the resin, then sprinkle on embossing powder. Then you use a heat gun to basically melt the powder. You get a sparkly stamped design. Then, top coat it to protect it. Oh, I just thought of another. Markers for edging finished projects.

Having an example to go with each technique would have been very helpful! Did you know you can make your own pigment paste? It's easy to do! 😮 If you have any resin that you don't use because it turns yellow, or it's to thin or to thin ect. 🤷 All you need to do is use the part of resin that is NOT the hardener, pour out the amount you want and mix in any colorant that you have, mica, paint, alcohol ink ect. Keep it in an air tight container and your done. 😉

Hello and thank you for all that valuable information. I am new to the resin world and trying to get a good understanding of how things work. If you ever get a chance can you please breakdown the different types of resin and what and when to use them. I’m especially confused about the definitions of resin, epoxy resin. Casting resin, quick drying, deep pouring, and UV resin can you mix them? When I have extra resin can I mix with other resins. Like type a with type a. Or type b with another type b. I don’t know what to say with the leftovers. And finally how to dispose of the empty jugs. Can I just toss in the trash? Thank you for everything. Whenever I want to learn something I watch your channel. Especially when your husband works with you I feel like we are both learning together and makes less intimidating. Have always watched you for a while but felt the need to join after this video to learn more. Thanks again!!

She was talking about using your extra leftover unmixed resin to make you own Pigment paste. She has a video of doing that. And she also has made a video recently on some different resin types.

@@marthagodsey7061 Ok I did see that one. Thanks. Other than making mica paste, can it be used for anything else? I must not be measuring properly. Thanks again

Thanks, Michelle! This video answered a lot of questions I didn’t know I had! 😂 I do have a question regarding making corrections from a previous video. Would it be easier for you to go back and edit your corrections on the original video? I was just thinking of what would may be easier on you. We own a video production company, but equipment may be different. I have no idea how to do a KZfaq video! You do a really great job with your editing! Back to the real business! Thank you for this video!!! I look forward to watching every night!

Unfortunately once it’s on KZfaq I either have to delete the original and all it’s generated including comments to make any changes and start all over so, no, it’s better to leave it up and have people check comments for other information. I learned that very early on when I went on KZfaq.

Thanks for the great ideas. It’s been my experience that faceted stones don’t work well in resin. The resin kind of cancels out the facets and makes them look very flat.

Very informative video! Thanks Michelle! Can you tell me where to get the abalone shell in a decent size jar? Also what size jump rings do I need for the keychains? Everything I have is just too small to fit through the keychain pendants and the keychain link. Thanks so much for your help!

Everyone always says to use alcohol ink to color resin, but in my experience the color is almost completely gone 6 months later. So I never use alcohol ink in my resin projects.
