In the book it took the marine quite awhile to open the door. In the game they did cut off the struggle of marine vs door because it wouldn’t be entertaining to watch. All of them were sweating bullets in the mean time though.

This exchange is very similar to one from the movie Aliens, where the Marines (Who were direct inspiration for Halo's marines) say: "I'm telling you, I got a bad feeling about this drop." "Ah, you always say that Ross, you always say 'I got a bad feeling about this drop!'" Trust me when I say that considering the sheer amount of homages to the Alien films in Halo CE, as well as the marines taking direct inspiration, it's a sure bet that this wasn't a Star Wars reference.

I like the original cutscene wear the marines unloaded on the infection forms. It really gives you a sense of fear knowing all those bullets couldn't stop them

Jake Yatta the cutscenes are meant to be the realistic part of the game and to show how things really are. So realistically if there are hundreds or even thousands of infection forms, which in the book there was. You aren't gonna be aiming especially under the circumstances of what just happened. You are scared and just going to be pulling the trigger

slicer940 I understand that, but in the classic version, they made the Marines look as if they were blind. I mean Keyes is just shooting at the raised platform thing, while everyone else is shooting at the walls and the ceiling. At least they changed the animations in Anniversary to make it look like they're trying to shoot the Flood.

The other issue I have with the Anniversary cutscene is the Infection Form the guy pulls off the other marine isn't even animated. I mean really how the fuck do you miss that? That kills the whole cutscene for me. The Infection Form in the original cutscene is actually moving and squirming when it gets pulled off.

Okay, to clear this... Jenkins never was turned into a Flood form. But he resisted against his,.. infection. He died in a Covenant Carrier explosion.

SPARTAN 007 I thought he died after the CO of the surviving humans on Halo wanted to return to earth with the flood but saw the danger and sabotaged the ship to self destruct.

Jenkins did get infected and got turned into a combat form, but he still had partial control, because the infection form was very old.

The good ending, while keyes and johnson went up to the surface, Master Chief have arrived in time to rescue Keyes and Johnson manage to leave with Keyes and Johnson at pelican so Keyes was never being held by the flood, then soon after they didn't went to the library to get the stupid ass index, then goes to the control room, gets cortana, manage to proceed to arrive the pillar autumn and start self destructing, doing the legendary warthog part, then the pillar of autumn exploded. Manage to destroy halo and finally leaves with Sergeant Johnson and Captain Keyes alive so they would never replaced Captain Keyes again *INSERT END CREDITS*

I like how in the remake the video is kinda corrupted and if you slow it down you can see glimpses of infection forms pop up for a brief moment

4:27 if you didn't know, there is an unused model for the dying marine, it was the marine counterpart to the mangled elite, but they couldnt figure out how to switch models during cutscenes so it was cut

That wasn't Jenkins body, dear sir, that was Mendoza's body, as he was trying to get out of the door, and more thank likely got killed by a combat form. Perhaps Bisenti. Also, the body may have been left as a food source, or to lower the morale of potential recovery teams. The only reason it wasn't ever infected after you entered was because in H1, while they were intended to infect dead bodies, they either hadn't enough time to finish it, or the engine couldn't handle it.

I played this as a kid on my dads computer I was probably 3 or 4 this mission always scared me but something always made me come back this game scared me as a kid and I kept replaying it over and over I’ll never lose the love for Halo.

It’s truly horrific what happened to Jenkins. He felt everything and resisted as best he was able but couldn’t control his actions. Truly a fate worse then death.

Yes he was, I assume they didn't have time to make the model, even tho it wouldn't have taken long. Earlier in the game I believe he was wearing it on the CCS cruiser when he was wearing combat gear there in the OG as well

Due to a extremely old parasite he was only partially infected. He retained some motor functions as well as his conscience and can feel pain, he even tried communicating with his turned comrades that were with him in 343 but to no evail. He refers to his particular flood parasite as “the other”. He escaped 343 only to be captured by a marine LT during a massive contact between the flood, covenant and unsc and was studied for some time and could communicate with his captors to a certain degree. Couldn’t speak but he did various movements to communicate when “the other” would let him. During his interrogation the other snapped Jenkins’ arm and attempted to stab his captors with the exposed bone, jenkins’ conscience almost blacked out from pain. But he did eventually die when he overloaded a covenant starships reactor and blew it up. In short f for Jenkins.

I am surprised no one has redone this scene with the original song Bungie was gonna use, Paint it Black by the Rolling Stones. Though the custom track they did use sounds a lot like Back in Black by AC/DC (Iron man theme). I could also see the movie Predator version of Long Tall Sally in the helicopter scene.

stquinn1 It specifically says in the books he is immune to the flood infection due to a disease he received handling covenant plasma grenades. It was some kind of nervous system disorder, possibly radiation induced.

The Exile He got the disease due to his involvement in the Orion Program (aka the Spartan I Program). The problem with plasma grenades was used as a coverup by ONI and the UNSC to keep the Spartan program a secret from the public.

@@RingoA woulda. But he does appear in the halo: the flood book. Master chief gets shot by him(doesn’t really do much) and he gets a stern tally too, but the marine is too freaked out and just ends up curling up and crying.
