Imagine you have 950 health and all of a sudden you make one wrong read and get 700 of that health taken away. Leaving you with 250, which is less than the required amount for fatal blow. With how fast you gain meter in this game it’s definitely a problem. Reiko is a grappler. There’s a reason his damage is limited. Johnny is a pressure god, so of course he’ll do good damage for nothing. Reiko is harder to use than Johnny is and that’s all because of the characters play style.

@@ryanhammonds919 Grapplers are typically supposed to be damage power houses. zangief in SF6 can do 50% of your health in one lvl3 super and it is almost instant. In fact zangief only has to grab you 3 times and its game over no super meter. Now look at Reiko in your scenario. you didn’t mention where the Reiko player would have to be to hit this damage. In your scenario his opponent is still at full health and to even hit this combo he would need full Kameo, to be at less than 30% of health, and all his meter to basically put himself in comeback range of the round, but this also requires him to read the opponents upblock. Something that is entirely out of the Reikos hands. the player has to hope he can bait out an upblock just to get this much damage. Not to mention there is freaking breaker in this game so the Reiko could do all that set up and the 1 hit before Fatal blow get his combo broken and that’s ALL those resources gone, waisted.

@@Mexman75 sure In SF they straight powerhouses. In mk it’s going to take more skill to pull off high damage. They make grapplers harder to use. And those scenarios you mentioned are not rare whatsoever or unrealistic. Clearly it happened more than once meaning it isn’t uncommon. Idk in what world a 700 damaging combo is okay in a game where you either get 950 health or 1000 health. If you want to bring up other character that do similar damage for less then okay that’s fair, but we’re strictly taking reiko. I mean he’s a very good grappler that can control the whole pace of the game.

@@ryanhammonds919 so how much damage would be ok for all 3 bars of meter, fatal blow, all of Kameo meter, and requires a specific punish? When combo breaker exists in this game and can immediately waist all those resources and it requires the use of Fatal blow, which by design is a comeback mechanic, I don’t see any issue with rewarding the player. Omni man can get 40%+ with no meter usage and even more if he uses specific cameos. Raiden can hit 50%+ multiple times a match with Jax and meter. Kenshi setups can delete your health round after round. While Reiko can do 1 combo 1 time in a match only if he is below 30% health and if he baits an upblock.

@@Mexman75 once again, we’re talking about reiko. Not any other character. If every character was made the same way then the game would be one dimensional. Grapplers In mk are going to be harder to use, but some of the better characters in the game. 700 is 3 quarters of someone’s health. You can mention combo breaker and it being situational when in fact it’s actually not hard at all to set up since unblocking is part of the meta. It’s so easy to empty jump and grab. You’re talking like it’s some insane read when it’s not. Then like we saw in the video is happened more than once fairly easily and consistently. If it did just 600 flat then it wouldn’t be so bad, but 700 is just ridiculous. Also this is mk, not SF. So don’t compare grapplers in that game to this game.

The low aspect is definitely part of what makes it good but i think the appeal is more so that its +2 on block. Make it a little negative and itll be dropped faster

@@hotpocketcentral6775 That's the only way i've used it, but the majority of people i've seen and played against using it use it for low overhead shit or making their unsafe overhead safe.

You just have to keep trying and failing then until you get it, break it down into 2 or 3 sections
