It is all but official. This tribute to Brandon Crawford was written while watching what is certain to be his last game as the Giants shortstop. My wife Barb asked if I was going to write a song in his honor like I did when Buster Posey retired.
#35 IN YOUR PROGRAM
From his early days - a leanin’ on the rail
Sign telling the owners - Giants ain’t for sale
Jogs onto the field - for this his final game
Willie Mays Plaza - will never be the same
#35 in your program - who we all know and love
Won a couple of rings - along with four Gold Gloves
B Craw at shortstop - showing up every day
While Kruk and Kuip - call the play by play
Ground ball up the middle - dives and throws ‘em out
Fly to short left field - hip pocket no doubt
Snags everything in sight - pure poetry in motion
‘Cepting of course - those that land in the ocean
#35 in your program - who we all know and love
Won a couple of rings - along with four Gold Gloves
B Craw at shortstop - showing up every day
While Kruk and Kuip - call the play by play
A forever Giant - whatever his future holds
Never be one like him - they broke the mold
A class act to the end - as he was from the start
#35 in your program - he’s #1 in our heart
Happy Trails Brandon - GO GIANTS!
