Belonging to the Queen and belonging to the Crown are two different things. Certainly, Elizabeth owns lots of stuff and places such as Sandringham and Balmoral Castle, and can sell them if she wishes. But places that are owned by The Crown, Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle as just two examples, belong to the British people through the government. Elizabeth, and now King Charles III, get to use them but do not own them.

Interesting, but what I really want to know is about those dolphins. :-) I would assume that they would be presented to the crown itself but a part of me thinks it would be the queen herself, well now the king, because if there was ever a dispute, they would want to be able to say which specific monarch you would technically be expected to offer the dolphin as a symbol of loyalty to. :-)

You should try learning just what the Queen did, each day she spent a few hours going through boring state papers. Then she would have to get dressed up( no jeans for her) and go and plaster a smile on her face while she opens a hospital, or visits a school or unveils a plaque, boring and standing for hours smiling and having to look interested in everything that people say to her. This happens most days she did manage a holiday in Scotland each year but the state papers still come every day. This post is also wrong most of what he says the Queen owned she did not ,he is mixing up what the Queen owned and what the Crown estate ownes she owned Balmoral and Sandringham the rest is owned by the crown estate which basically means that all the others are owned by the British people. Most of the jewellery is also owned by the crown estate all of the gifts given to the Queen by other countries belong to the country and the majority are stored in special vaults. I do wish people would try to learn the facts before putting these things in a video. He says all the gold goes to the crown that is therefore Not owned by the Queen. If you go into the history of Britain and the Monarchy you will see most of what he says is incorrect. Would you like to get up each day knowing that you had to read all those boring papers then go out and meet complete strangers and smile and show interest in everything they say, then of course there are then the state banquets when you may have to smile and speak nicely with someone you detest for a whole evening knowing that if you said a word out of place you could start a diplomatic incident. There are many many things the Queen had to do whether she wanted to or not her time was not her own and she never had any privacy,. Rant over please just try to learn a bit first before commenting.

@Scott Luther Correct, and then they cede them to the UK for the term of their reign in exchange for the royal stipend. Of course, if Charles wanted to take all of it back there is exactly zero recourse.
@T0NYD1CK
@T0NYD1CK Жыл бұрын
@@marvindebot3264 I don't think King Charles could take it back. The agreement was that everything owned by King George III was transferred into a kind of trust and the revenue from those properties would go to the government to run its affairs. The monarchy would then get a percentage of that back to finance itself. So, if Charles III could take the Crown Estates back then he would, at the very least, have to pay to run the government.

By coincidence re your mention of Mel Gibson, his paternal grandmother, the Australian opera singer Eva Mylott, came from Tuross Head near my home town. There’s an entry about her on Wikipedia plus a photo. She was a protégée of Dame Nellie Melba, finished up in New York and married an American, Hutton Gibson. Her other Mylott relatives were our local bakers and Mel’s dad (also Hutton, and a tv quiz champion here) used to bring his family down to visit them when I was growing up. I suspect that Mel inherited his acting genes from Eva. Not many seem to know that he had Australian heritage.

I'm really not trying to be rude or disrespectful in any way so please consider this as constructive criticism. If you want to be take seriously, build your channel and attract more subscribers then PLEASE, PLEASE thoroughly research the content of your video's. Whenever something is "owned by the Crown" it DOESN'T mean that it's the personal property of the monarch. It means that it's temporarily theirs to use while their sovereign. Once a new monarchs takes the previous one's place then temporarily ownership is transferred to the new monarch and so on and so forth down the line of succession. In the case of this video, whenever you said something belongs to the crown and then implied it was the Queen's personal property you're giving people information that ISN'T TRUE! Also, I'm not British. I'm American and read a 2 minute explanation on Wikipedia and learned more then in this video. So, PLEASE spend more time researching the topic of your video's! @@samiam619 Wikipedia can be one of the most unreliable sources for factual information, as anyone anywhere at anytime can edit any entry at will. If I really wanted to I could go onto the wikipedia page about the British Monarchy and put myself in the line of succession. Doesn't make it true. Likely someone would come along and edit that out once it gets discovered. However, many things get added and deleted from pages there daily by anyone who thinks they have the "true facts" about something, whether it is true or not. Many times it never gets discovered, and then becomes a "fact" when people are doing research, when all long it isnt even true at all. That is what is wrong with Wikipediand why it should never be used for factual research on anything.

Not quite. All Military units (Army Regts etc.) have a flag, or 'colours', presented by the monarch, and is the representation of the monarch on the battlefield. To lose these colours is the ultimate disgrace. Artillery units do not have a 'flag' as the colours, but the guns act as the colours, and as such they have the Royal cypher etched on the barrel. hence you weren't allowed to sit on the gun, because in essence you would have been sitting on th Queen's Colour.

Wonder what the story is behind owning the McDonald's?
@julie982
@julie982 Жыл бұрын
According to an article on the Internet, the McDonald's sits on land that is part of the Crown Estates. The owner/manager turns a percentage of the profits to the Treasury which uses it to support the Sovereign. Like other items on this list, it is not something she owned personally. It is owned by the reigning monarch.

Their colonialism allowed them to amass all that wealth while people in their colonies suffered and continue to suffer. 💔

The Queen doesn’t (or didn’t own) half the UK shoreline, or Windsor Castle or Holyrood Palace etc. They’re owned by the Crown, I.e. the British state, of which she is the representative. They’re in her name, and in name only. She can’t do with them as she pleases. She does own Balmoral and Sandringham House privately.

A history of greed, barbaric colonialism, brutal appropriation, self-importance, and ostentatious gluttony carefully dressed up to please, deceive and feed the fantasies of those easily impressed, desperately in need of something (someone) to look up to, and the envious. Such "ownership" is full of pompous arrogance!! The "Creator" of "All That Is" is the only One who has true ownership!! There is a very dark underbelly to this Royal Ownership thing that many may fear or have the will to point out. She and the Monarch (as with so many others) had a role to play to unwittingly wake the rest of us up to what it really means to be a good human Being and the traps arising from the bombastic spoils coming from a long history of addiction to power and control. I do acknowledge that there is always some good that comes along with the bad. But looking at everyone else's comments of praise and admiration, I just had to bring some balance and sobriety.

The Queen [crown] owns every piece of land in the United Kingdom. If you don't leave a Will passing on any land to children, siblings, or friends the land ownership can revert back to the crown.
@alecblunden8615

The Crown owns all land in the realm, the "ownership" we think of is an estate in fee simple. It is because of the residual Crown ownership that interests can be resumed for public purposes and why ,when interests fail, they revert to the Crown, but interest usually pass to the heirs in intestacy, not the Crown, on intestacy
@Wahian1
@Wahian1 Жыл бұрын
The Duchy of Cornwall is a rare example of intestacy and no heirs, the estate passes to the Duke of Cornwall which for years was Prince Charles. While some monies from this find their way back to various charities down there, Prince Charles has personally ended up with £millions from this anomaly from the Crown claiming it.
