I wasn't able to upload the actual dyno test that made the best HP numbers, this was the first carb it was a terd out of the box we kept tweaking this thing because our thinking was the carb is new, after we changed it most of the problems went away eventually, we hit it with 200 shot of NOS and it made North of 600 HP

That's is awesome. Did you guys use a dry shot or wet? Msd box for timing retard if so what timing numbers were you using on nos? I am learning more about nitrous and it seems it's like Freiberger said " nitrous does not blow motors, bad tune ups blow up motors". Thanks for all the great content. 👍

Simply amazing how back in the 60s to get that kind of power you would need Dual quads and 12 to 1 105 octane. and hardly ever would you see a factory corvette engine get more HP per square inch with all that. What I would have never thought of is the 2 inch spacer. We all know high rise manifolds ad torque but to think you got more HP....It is all about combination finding the exhaust length and intake length that meets maximum flow to the cam curve is an ART.....you did it.

@@Myvintageiron7512 To tell ya the truth, I believe the guys who are talking down & scoffing at the numbers in power gained from these reasonably affordable upgrades, are just a bunch of young youtube warriors who never built an engine in the first place. They watch youtube videos where shops are throwing everything into these engines ( with unlimited funds & resources ) with results north of 550 hp, and they think "that's the way it should be done". Because no experienced engine builder would belittle this particular project considering the budget window & selection of parts that were used.

So, I've got a question that maybe you can answer for me. I started buying parts to build a 400 (406) SB Chevy for a very decent street motor. In that parts list included a set of AFR 195 cc Street port heads with the 2.05" intake valve. But, as I've done so many times before, I changed my mind and decided to order a simple ZZ4 350 short block and build it up as I didn't need 500-550 HP for this new particular build up. So my question is this: The ZZ4 engine uses a 4 valve relief hypereutectic piston in the short block. Do you think that My AFR 195 cc heads will work with these pistons? Remember... the AFR 195cc head uses a 2.05" intake valve which I believe is moved .080" away from the exhaust valve for clearance and flow. The ZZ4 has the smaller valve reliefs. I know that a head with a 2.02" intake valve will work, but, I'm concerned that the AFR's might touch the side of the valve reliefs. Thoughts.....

Unless it is a vacuum secondary carburetor, 750cfm is too big. Won't see that fully needed until 8000 rpm. Needed a 650-675cfm carb to start with. That's why the spacer was needed. Too low air velocity because of the carb being too big.

The old Edelbrock catalog their crate engines make more power with the 180 heads than it did with 200cc heads. I’m not saying 432 hp is bad but for the money in this engine. I would have guessed it made a lot more. I know short blocks can be plain vanilla and it doesn’t make more power. Just think the 200cc intake ports with that much compression would have made a few more power.

I agree that has been our conclusion as well the 200 is a bit too large for a 350 the main reason we wanted the 200cc runners is beacuse we intended to spray this with NOS it made North of 600 with a 200 shot there is also more there N/A with tuning we think there is 25 to 30 more

Sure, but it depends on what the car or vehicle itself is going to be used for. Example: a tight road course type track with tight turns.........vs a drag strip or super speedway. Small blocks and big blocks all have strengths & weaknesses. But it's hard to beat the easy torque numbers that comes with a big block, for sure.

Most professional engine builders don't own a dyno. He took it to an associate's shop which has a proper dyno set up in 2 rooms. ( 2 separate rooms for obvious reasons. ) This is how the vast majority of professional engine builders operate. They build engines in their own shop, then run over to test on a dyno, if a customer wants to pay extra for documented dyno sheets. This is how it's always been done.

Sadly soon all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime (Bundesabgasbespassungsverbotsverordnung)!!!

I do not understand why you are wasting your time on these engines, you really need to be building Pro Stock engines, I bet you could set the record the first time out.

That's not the goal nor the direction he wants for this channel to go. And this is just a small glimpse into what he has going on. Just like he doesn't really mess with LS's too much on this channel. And doing a tailgate rebuild. It's not a waste of time nor a waste of money. It's a $2,500.00 budget build small block that's making 400+ hp and tq -impressive!
