I was just telling my fabricator the same thing. I feel like I'm right there, under the hood.

Every car is different the vq35de, head runners have nearly no casting marks inside of them. the manifold on the vq is its main chokehold for this engine platform hence why we usually port them and leave the head runners unported, you need professionals that understand the vq to port your cylinder heads on this platform because uneducated people go porting the hell out of there vq heads and end up messing up there displacement to where they actually loose alot of power, and at that point it really isnt worth it unless your doing a full engine build in my opinion. And if anything that small few mm of lip on the head runners will be more like a velocity stack when the heads meet the larger exit port pushing air faster faster into the heads making for better atomization of the fuel ⛽️

You would need to get tuned otherwise your afr would be all over the place. I’ve seen people using stock fuel pump but i would recommend to get more efficient one.

It’s hard for me to tell if I’ve had any power gains from it since I’ve pretty much did all of the bolt on’s and got tuned at ones (but considering it’s just 3inch intake all the way I would think it’ll make a difference) but regarding it sucking in some water I wouldn’t be concerned since the location of the filter is pretty high up from the ground. You can also use a “sock” for the filter and you’ll be solid.

I personally don’t understand how more air leads to less power. Sure it can be more on the tuning side of things but I got ported upper and lower plenums as well as ported lower runners and when I added my 75MM TB with my plenum spacer everything came together to smoothly. I still got more tuning to do but to answer your question. In my opinion I think $120 blox is worth it. Test it out for yourself.

Great question. You’re on the right track. These vehicles are engineered to a relatively specific purpose, with some flexibility. For example, if the volume of air going into the motor increases, the computer will add fuel. BUT, only to its limitations. The guy in the video is off to a great start by upgrading the injectors, as the originals are limited. However, he NEEDS to tune now. The computer program for fuel and air management operates in a specific parameter range. The tune will override these settings and allow for more fuel in response to the increased air. If you don’t tune after substantially increasing intake air volume, you will run lean.

@@samuelw5072 since my comment I’ve added ported lower intake manifold and ported upper plenum, cleaned injectors, new plugs, new valve cover gasket, throttle body spacer and the plenum spacer, test pipes, nismo exhaust, full paint job, tint, new slave/master and clutch line, new clutch ( asshole didn’t machine the flywheel) and tomorrow I have my appointment with admintuning. Lol so I’ve spent about 7k in upgrades lol 😂

I have a revup and with a z1 spacer, stillen intake and aam resonated test pipes I picked up 30 hp and 40 tq with a tune

They are larger injectors then stock, when you run e85 it requires more fuel so bigger fuel pump as well as bigger injectors needed to have all the benefits of running e85

I didn’t do dyno run without those boltons but it ended up making ~265 hp to the wheels

Hard to tell since I’ve got dyno tuned after all of the boltons were Installed
