I been working on these forever. I can 360 pop and kickflip, but can't seem to get these down. I recently landed a few, but it seems each day I have to learn it over as the same formula won't work. I think it is important to keep the majority of the weight on your front foot and keep your back foot more flat so when you scoop there's more contact for your foot to catch the pocket. Do you find there is a difference where your knees and shoulders face? Whether or not your perspective is looking out the nose or side of the board?
@slowmomike10 жыл бұрын
I literally distribute all of my weight and face exactly like how I do with pop shoves. That's what I believe is the correct way to do them. I believe leaning is not the best idea, you should distribute your weight as if you are doing any other trick in skateboarding: ollies, kickflips, pop shoves, etc. That should be the proper way to do them. As for my knees, I just keep them how I usually have them with all of my other tricks, no big deal; and for shoulders, they are always parallel with the board at all times (again, just like all of my other tricks that I know). I think you may be making the 360 flip to be more complicated then you think. There is no "magic bullet" here really. I mean hell I did 2 360 flips with a wal-mart skateboard in my previous video hahah. I feel like you may be struggling with a bit of the "correlation doesn't equal causation" issue. A quick example of that would be: "my neighbor died in the morning, therefore the sun killed my neighbor". So for you it would be like "I changed the direction of my knees and landed the trick, therefore my knees helped me land the trick". Well, maybe you did the technique right regardless of how your "formula" worked before? (Which, by the way, you really shouldn't be changing the direction of your knees when you are skating, they don't help with any trick honestly). So my advice to you would be to find *what is the persitent problem* that you are having with the trick. Once you have _found_ the problem, take note on *what affects that problem*. If the problem is the board not staying under you, the affects of that problem could be because: 1) You are not leaning properly during the trick, 2) you aren't scooping the board correctly to keep the board under you, 3) You are not jumping *vertically* up. Doing one of these 3 improper techniques would cause you to not have the board stay under you. So you can rule out doing anything with your knees, shoulders or any of that stuff here. And if you haven't already, I would totally check out my Ultimate Trick Tip for 360 flips and Common Problems Video for 360 flips as well if you haven't done so already. Anything that is _not_ mentioned in those 2 videos is more than likely insignificant to help you land the 360 flip. Hope that gives you some good insight/help on that
@Nebulation10 жыл бұрын
***** Thanks for the response. It's awesome you interactively help people in your threads. I think my most persistent problem is that i do not jump straight in the air (i also lean like I'm gunna fall forward) and that I do not pop vertical and then scoop. Also, that I do not jump high enough and attempt to land too quickly. Ya I got a few problems to get over... What do you mean by not leaning properly?
@slowmomike9 жыл бұрын
Alright cool, so you should have some ideas to try out! As for popping down vertically, as long as you aren't just going horizontal and you are popping down somewhat, you should still be able to get the 360 flip. As for not leaning properly: if you ever feel like your weight shifts awkwardly during the trick, that's a problem. You should be distributing your weight exactly like an ollie, kickflip, pop shove or any other trick. Leaning to one side will cause the board to be pushed in the opposite direction. That's kinda what I mean by that
@Nebulation9 жыл бұрын
Ya I see what you mean. I do tend to lean too much forward, even when i do regular kickflips. Another thing that has been helping is making sure i'm completely comfortable in the position I'm in before attempting the trick. if i can't picture it happening where i stand, it probably isn't. It has to feel right split after right as you go for it.
@slowmomike9 жыл бұрын
Couldn't have said it better myself dude! I don't know if you have seen my "walmart skateboard" video that I made a few weeks back, but I had that same problem: I know exactly how to 360 flip, it's easy, but I was so uncomfortable with that board that absolutely nothing happened on a few attemtps

Yes, Get Risers man. What risers do is help prevent pressure cracks. What happens if you don't have them all the force from landing makes it hard on the wood with your metal trucks pushing onto it where as to the Risers will help absorb some of that impact. If you notice I did say it helps prevent them, It doesnt FULLY prevent them but it helps. If you look at cracks on a board without the pads you will notice they are deeper and worse. I would prefer getting Silicone ones,
