I learned G code in 1984 and we all were hand programming on Fanuc controlled machines. We learned how to use cutter comp (G41) to make it easier to program - we would use all the print coordinates and put in the diameter of the end mill for 2.5 axis contour cutting. and then we could also tweak adjust for sizing. We always used G41 (climb mill) and never G42. When we transitioned to CadCam - we still were putting in diameter in machine offsets. So we were using "control" selection to add G41. Eventually we went to "wear" selection. It eliminated the need to enter any numbers in tool diameter ( reduce mistakes ) but still have G41 ability. Most beginner users use "computer" and that works fine but you do not get adjustability for tool wear or tool deflection.

So when using "wear" do i add my radius Compensation of half the tool Dia on fusion360, post my NC, Then my tool offsets on the machine are just small offsets for accuracy. No need to add it on to the tool offsets unless using in control? Great video, Thank you!

There is hole compensation in Prusa Slicer and Cura which is similar to cutter comensation.

You need to make clear that (in control) you must give the machine a (cutter radius compensation) value of (5mm). This is good for using regrind cutters, where the CRC value will compensate the undersized tool value. The more preferred (wear) compensation, the (CRC) = 0 in the machine. I say this because," proper preparatory habits," Like a G40 to clear (CRC) or G90 to clear (G91, G92). the machinist should clear all (CRC in the machine) to zero (0), upon finishing a job. So, the next person starts fresh, no accidental over cutting. Right?

So, for example: If i use "in computer" for a 3mm tool, it will cut 1.5mm out from the contour. If however, the tool actually measure as 2.9mm, and that is the value in the tool table, it will still cut 1.5mm out from the radius, meaning that 0.05mm of stock is left on the part? Where as, if I use "In control", the control will offset the tool centreline 1.45mm from the contour, so that i will get a perfect finish (in theory), because it gets the tool diameter value from the tool table, and uses that to calculate how much it should offset by?
