I’m a birth doula, and I’ve seen ALL kinds of birth. The best decisions about your labor and delivery are the ones you make that fit YOU and the moment you are in. There is no “right” or “wrong” no matter what people say online. What matters is that when it’s all over you feel like you had choice, agency, and support during your journey. I hope hope hope you have a doula arranged (check the data on having one Mac and Jack…from another total data geek). The right support makes a big difference.

I didn’t realize there was an IVF induction situation. But my 21 year old son was our IVF miracle and that has been a while! We did decide to let nature take its course because we were in the ‘we’ve done all the medical intervention we can handle’ camp. I found it interesting that we did a three day transfer on Sept 20th and he was born in June 17th (4 days past his doctor due date) which made him exactly 9 months to the day. We decided it was best for him to decide!

Just had to comment that I love seeing you gush over her ultrasound photos. It just gets better from there! My little girl is almost 6 months now and I still find myself watching her sleep just in awe of how beautiful and perfect she is. ❤ So excited for you guys and glad to hear you’re feeling good about the impending birth! Omg! I just totally realize you could have her in your arms right now! Congratulations Momma! I did get induced at 39w with my 1st. I did end up having emergency C-section with her. I won’t tell you my birth story.. I am so excited for you guys! I’m praying for your birth and postpartum 💜💜

Very glad I didn’t have those stats to grapple with when I was pregnant with my IVF baby. I lost my mucous plug early morning on my due date. Everything progressed very naturally. I’m glad I didn’t have that extra worry. I hope you don’t stress about it too much. Wishing you an easy labor and that your arms will soon be filled with your sweet little girl.

You’re so close to meeting your sweet girl!! 💕 No advice just wanted to share I opted for an induction at 40+3 because of my anxiety surrounding stillbirth. I loved my induction and birth experience!! Ended in a vaginal delivery after 18 hours and it was the most incredible experience of my life 🩷 I’m sure you’ll make the best choice for you. so excited for you!! 💗💗💗

Just had my IVF baby girl (surprise gender) 3 weeks ago in the UK. I wanted a spontaneous midwife led labour and to remain mobile but my consultant didn’t want me to go over 40 weeks due to increased risk of still birth after that. I ended up being induced on my due date. My waters broke early on (in the hospital cafeteria for maximum comedy) so I was on a 24hr time deadline for delivery. Unfortunately my dilation did not progress so I ended up having an emergency c-section. Despite everything being the opposite of what I wanted it was still a positive experience and my daughter (gives me a thrill to say that) was delivered safe and sound and a healthy 8lbs 2oz. In the end, that was all that really mattered to me 🥰

It has been so nice watching you and you being about a month ahead of me! That being said I may need to stop watching for a few months while we get to the final stages. This video was helpful, but also anxiety inducing. I wish you and Jack so much love and luck in the future, and look forward to watching again soon!

I’m so excited for both of you!! I wish my doctor had gone over induction a little more. Just to prepare me for “just in case.” I was induced at 39 weeks unexpectedly (not ivf pregnancy, I had pretty high blood pressure at that appointment). Honestly, it didn’t even cross my mind until she said it. I had our daughter 3 hours after being induced. So I’m proof it can be fast too..at the end of the day it doesn’t really matter how they get here. It’s whatever feels right and is best for mom and baby. I love the relationship you have with your doctor. Good luck mama! ❤

I was induced with my son. He was overdue and back then they didn’t have ultrasounds. I wish I knew that he should have been deeper in my pelvis. Anyway during pitocin the RN felt cord below his head and luckily my water hadn’t broken. Emergency C- section ensued. I had a 9lb 7 oz daughter 3.5 yrs prior so I never considered C-section. Anyway he was 8lb 15 oz and arrived 11 minutes after the decision was made. Bin bam boom ! He was here. If you get induced just make sure they know where the cord is. With US they can locate it. Best of luck with Bubby!

The ARRIVE trial isn’t a great study. I’d recommend you look into it, Evidence Based Birth has some information. I’m a L&D nurse and not a fan of how they got their results. Either way I see lots of inductions that end in healthy mom & baby and that is the goal ❤ and I’m not opposed to induction, I just like for patients to be truly informed prior 😊

I am so sorry people give such insistent advice. I had two babies with two vastly different births. My prayers are for you to have a positive experience with a beautiful healthy baby as the outcome!! I laugh as I say my "birth plan" flew out the window when at the hospital. I can't wait to meet, so to speak, your sweet baby! My granddaughter is due the last week of November! I cannot stop buying baby clothes!

I just gave birth on September 13th! I ended up choosing to be induced at 39 weeks, but of course I support your decision either way! Everyone’s birth experience is so personal that I don’t think it would be possible for me to judge someone’s decision to get induced or not. My family had a very traumatic event happen about 2 weeks before I gave birth, and we all needed some joy. That played into the decision a little bit. My daughter had been breech and I had a successful ECV procedure to turn her and I didn’t want her to flip back over before birth. I was also just really uncomfortable and wanted her out! So we went in for an induction, and she came out 8 lbs 15 oz (my husband and I were both 7 lb babies so this came out of nowhere) and in the 95th percentile for her weight and 98th percentile for height. (We are also both short so that was a surprise too!) I am very small and ended up taking a very long time to push her out because she was stuck behind my pubic bone for a while and then I crowned for 30 mins straight 😅 in hindsight, I am still glad that I had made the decision to get induced, because if I had waited I probably wouldn’t have been able to get her out vaginally! I ended up hemorrhaging afterwards as well and was so happy to have sweet and supportive nurses and doctors taking care of me. Honestly, the people make the biggest difference. I still consider my birth experience a very positive one, though eventful lol!

You always seem to be aware of your own feelings and also take stock of your partner's feelings. You have a strength and conviction that I don't often see. Thank you for sharing this journey. You are close to my daughter's age so I've been through the childbearing years myself for a while now, but it has been so special to see the joy and wonder you both have experienced thru this pregnancy. This was so informative, thank you for sharing what you learned from the doctor about IVF & induction. It sounds like you have a very supportive care team too because both decision options around induction are totally valid and reasonable and it sounds like they were presented to you in that way, without judgement. No doubt your choice will be the right one for you (and people's opinions on it literally do not matter). I'm definitely over here trying to figure out if the clay-baby ultrasound pictures make baby girl look more like you or Jack. 🧐 😅 Wishing you a positive birth experience since it's coming up so soon!

Girl I can’t believe your 37 weeks already! I feel like it was just yesterday that you went in for your anatomy scan appointment lol but also I’m like damn I’m only 9-10 weeks apart from your pregnancy 🤰 I will be going in at 39 weeks for an induction due to preeclampsia and the risk of my blood pressure being so high more towards the end of my pregnancy. This is my 3rd and I’m hoping for a quick labor and delivery cause I’m not looking forward to the pain lol 😂

I fell at the bowling alley while I was 39 weeks pregnant and had been having contractions for over a week just painful nonprogressive labor every 5-8 minutes so we were walking and doing stuff to try and help and so me and my sister-in-law took my 2&1/2 year old daughter and her 18 month old daughter to cosmic bowling strobe lights and glow in the dark stuff music fun fun fun then I tried to bowl my feet went straight out from under me and suddenly there was about 10 men scared trying to help me get up! I was laughing so hard I actually peed my pants too! 😂so I feel your clutzyness 😂❤❤

I've chosen an induction at 39 weeks and I have gotten so many questions from friends and family. Most of which are just seeking to understand the choice and the reason for it but some of which have felt a bit pointed. I read literature about the arrive trial from a few years back and am excited about knowing that if baby doesn't come on his own before 39 weeks that we have a day for his arrival. It wasn't discussed with me in relation to this being an IVF pregnancy (or me being 35... Even though technically baby is 34 due to the age of the embryo); my doctor just believes the evidence is strong enough to offer it to everyone (but it's a choice either way!!).

Ice packs are amazing also the freda bath salts are very good. But i put lavender drops in my bath that worked wonders for me. I found the upside down bottle did nothing haha people rave about it though so may work for you.

Very normal feelings mama. Very normal to feel such conflicting emotions...like I m done having kids..have a tubal and I m sobbing I won't ever be pregnant again while at the same time knowing I am an anxiety ridden mess while pregnant. Wanting your baby to stay in but also want your baby out ..😅

No opinion on the matter, but can I ask you a question about something you said? You said (around minute 11:15) that there is a study where they found the vaginal birth rate to be 17% higher in those that were induced versus not induced. A question: is this related to all first time moms? Or is this also specifically related to IVF pregancy?

So I’m a 20-year-old mama I had to get induced at 40 weeks five days and I was so upset only because if I’m already getting induced that late I could’ve been induced and met my baby three weeks ago I was waiting for him to come naturally

Peri bottle is useful even with a c section, you need that at hospital lol. Also have a lot of anxiety of the unknown, was so great full to go into my first appointment and be told the plan. Want to add you body your choice 1000% other people don’t get a vote

I fell at 37 weeks broke my leg and it started labor but was awful because they could not set my leg and it was broken .

So I didn’t want an induction, my midwife talked to me about it at my 37 wk appt, ended up having to go in that night for an emergency induction lol. Baby is now 18 months and I’m due with number 2 five days after he turns 2.

Hey Mac. I'm Kristin. I just wanted to come on here and say that I'll be 34weeks tomorrow and I'm getting really anxious because I had my oldest this week and I'm scared my baby girl is going to come early. I have velamentous cord insertion and I have to see the high risk doctor twice a week now and all last week her heart rate wasn't accelerating during the heart monitoring non stress test I do as well as she didn't want to move for my ultrasound and I'm scared if it continues this week that I'm going to have to have her. Shes less than 1% of her weight. 2weeks ago she was measuring 2lbs12oz so I'm scared for her to come this early. My oldest daughter was already 4lbs6oz by this time when she came so I'm just freaking out that if this one comes now I'll have to go through the nicu stuff again but even longer since she's so tiny. I hope it goes well but I'm hoping she'll be able to stay in till 37weeks for my c-section. I have it scheduled for then because she's so tiny and the high risk doctor suggests to have her then. I'm guessing she'll already have to be in the nicu for alittle bit then cuz she's guessing to be around 5lbs at the most but hopefully she won't need to for so long as if I had her now. It's scheduled for November 16th so a week exact from Thanksgiving. I'm excited to have her for the holiday but like I said I just am having alot of anxiety right now. Mom butt is a real thing! You stand with an anterior pelvic tilt. This is when your hips tilt forward and your butt sticks out. This posture stretches out the glute muscles in your bum, leading to a flatter bum
