These guys definitely didn’t watch game 4. They were intentionally funneling Harden to the paint in game 4 to the floater and he made them pay. Derrick Jones Jr and PJ Washington were great defenders this series. PJ played amazing defense against SGA this year too.

they didnt watch game 5 when harden missed 4 floaters. But I can agree to some extent tho, the idea was right but they needed a big in the paint not maxi. In game 5, when they had gafford or lively in the paint, harden was forced to take floaters 2 steps behind and missed all.

The fact that the Mavs handled business against the Clips with Luka playing BY FAR his worst series of his career so far is scary for the rest of the league. Lively is gonna get played off the floor like Jonas did. I don’t see how Dallas stops Thunders offense with their inconsistency. Thunder are top 4 in offense and defense. Mavs fans listen to the noise instead of their eyes. Dallas has no answer for Shai/Jalen and OKC is the best 3pt shooting team and #1 at pressuring the rim. @@akshanshsharma6994 welcome to playoff basketball, it will probably end up being mavs in 6 and i’ll explain.. both teams dont play a traditional “man to man” defense where a defender has a specific assignment.. rather they both play a zone which is a lot of switching defenders and the mavs have a clear size advantage in the front court when playing this zone.. so get ready (hopefully) to see a lot of pj and maxi in the front court.. and when gafford and lively play the pick and roll/pop okc wont really have anything they can do abt it.. but okc is also a really good 3 pt shooting team and they play pretty quick which is why they will win a couple

The Mavs defense showed up vs Clippers. Dude thinks because they won 2 games it wasn’t decisive. Clippers scored in the 90s 3 times and 101 in the other with healthy Harden/PG. Besides those bad starts in games 1 and 4, Mavs dominated the rest of the way.

I think a simple way to differentiate the bad/good/great coaches is how many times they can disappoint before the front office can rationalize firing them. A bad coach only needs to disappoint 1 season, a good coach 2, and a great coach 3+ and they can be fired.

I don't think Malone's necessarily an all time great coach when it comes to in-game adjustments, but I think there's a lot more to coaching than that. People really underestimate coaches when it comes to their role in great passing/read-and-react team offenses and instilling that mindset in the whole roster. Jokic is the main reason it works, obviously, but you can't downplay the coach's importance there.
